Norvel Pelle, the Rivals No.1 ranked center from the 2011 class, is reportedly considering LSU, according to his AAU coach.

Pelle signed with St. Johns in 2011, was academically ineligible, and is currently at prep school.

quote:

Iowa State will host one of the top players from the class of 2011 on an official visit this weekend.

Norvel Pelle, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Stoneridge Prep in California, will arrive in Ames on Friday afternoon, this according to his AAU coach Brian Beard.

Pelle originally committed to St. John’s in 2011 but was ruled academically ineligible before the 2011-12 college basketball season began. Since then, he’s re-opened his recruitment and according to Beard, is considering Iowa State, San Diego State, UNLV, UTEP, LSU and UConn.

Pelle would be eligible to play in 2012 for whichever school he chooses to attend.

It would certainly be a long shot for LSU to sign him, but I like that we are at least involved with this caliber of player.

I wonder what Pelle's relationship was with Ricardo Gathers, if any?

Recruit List: Norvel Pelle

why is it a long shot for LSU but not for the rest of his list?

If he signs with LSU it would reduce the whining about Trent.

the player is only 210 lbs. they have him as the #1 center, so I am sure he gets up and has game, but.... light in the pants.

Maybe he's the next Bill Russell. Maybe he needs a running mate built like Wesley Unseld (6 7 270), to maintain order inside.

This would be huge. Trent obviously knows the West Coast and maybe he has some connections. LSU moves into Top 4 in SEC immediately next year if he signs here.

Anthony Davis manages to protect the paint pretty well at that size.

How about a couple of 6'9", 265 lb and 7'0", 270 lb running mates?

He has visited San Diego State and Iowa State. I will consider it a long shot until he visits. It just appears we are a little late to the party on this. Not being negative, just realistic.

I was doing a little counting of spots that schools may have before any transfers or minus them not have all 13 scholarships to offer or if one of them is a walk on:

Iowa St: 12 current, 2 Sr's, 4 signed letter of intent

S.D St: 13 current, 2 Sr's, 2 signed intent and one committ

UNLV: 16 Current, 1 Sr, 3 signed letter and one commit

UCONN 16 current, 4 Sr'sm 1 committ and probably 2 early entry's leaving.

LSU has more than enough.

I watched the video on the link. this would be a huge get. That kid has a very high motor and runs the court. He would recieve a ton of PT here next year. I hope we add him.
