He is truly great as a basketball play by play guy. I like to give him shite about his baseball and football calls, but he can nail a basketball game.

I see something I'd like to nail.

ETA: and I am a big Hawthorne fan.

I know it's fashionable to hate on Jim but I like the guy. Although he's far from perfect it can't be easy to call all those sports just right every time. When I hear him I hear The Voice of the Tigers.

He's not the best, but when he's not doing the PBP for baseball its like something is missing.

Hawthorne is good at basketball and slightly worse at football. Baseball he is pretty damn bad. He needs to drop the negative old man shite though.

You all have to be kidding. Right? Have you listened at all to other school's play by play. The thing missing in most is the negativity that Hawthorne cannot or does not try to hide. I'm sorry, but I've always felt this way, and always will. To each his own I guess.

Sorry, but I can't accept mediocrity. I know he bleeds P & G, but LSU could do better as far as getting someone who can keep his audience informed and entertained.

JH is a negatiger. I'd rather pass out at Krystal than listen to his football pbp.

See jim Henderson even during an awful saints year to get an idea of good pbp.

I can't stand that disgust in his voice when he calls games, regardless of the sport. Nothing against him personally but, I can't wait for the day he retires.

he sucks so bad at baseball, imo, because he doesn't understand the game. too many times he's completely wrong on something and hanegriff has to correct him, who btw is probably the most knowledgeable college baseball guy in the country, bar none

I like it when Hawthorne is doing basketball and Patrick Coogan joins Hanagriff on the baseball broadcasts. They do a good job of PBP as well as giving incite into strategy and method which Hawthorne has no clue about.
