Well, they wouldn't have had to leap Oklahoma State. OSU would have still been trying to leap them. However, I do agree that they would have absolutely gone ahead of Arkansas.
It was all name brand for Alabama last year. And it was all bullshite.

Arkansas gets CBS and the SEC network same as Alabama. LSU/Arkansas was played on CBS the day before the Iron Bowl.
Fact is Alabama BEAT Arkansas so it never mattered. I think we're past the point of putting someone in the game on tradition.

Alabama's schedule was laughable last season. Nobody except Alabama gets the treatment they did after losing to LSU.
