I don't understand what's going on there then. They would be saving the $8m option bonus + $2.25m base + $250k workout bonus (which he won't be able to complete). Signed a $7m signing bonus, only one year into a 5 year deal, so that should be a $5.6m hit. So I figure $10.5m saved - $5.5m hit = $5m saved in 2012. I can't find any other articles specifically saying how much would be saved. Not too worried about it though, if it only saves them $300k, it's better for us.

that's why I mentioned I've seen other numbers too (like savings on cutting Smith). Cap management is so vital and the public is now aware of it that an official list of such things would be nice rather than scouring assorted sources with different takes. It should get much clearer soon though once the cap is announced and the new league year starts.
