SI.com Bubble Talk
From the article:
In The Mix
LSU (16-10, 6-6; RPI: 63, SOS: 50)
Chalk up "writing a bubble blurb for the Tigers" on the list of things I didn't expect to have to do this season, but here they are, fresh off wins over Alabama and Mississippi State and then at South Carolina, to get to .500 in the league and give themselves a shot. The last four are manageable: Georgia, at Mississippi, Tennessee, at Auburn. Get at least three of the four and we'll see what the SEC tourney brings.
GW: Marquette, Alabama?
BL: South Alabama, at Coastal Carolina
Stating the obvious but the two bad losses could come back to haunt us, and pulling off one of the close losses to Northwestern or UVa would've been huge. All that said, we win out and it appears we'll have a legit shot. Its a very soft bubble this year.

They look for streak and trends... if we finish strong it certainly helps create that pciture, esp if the BLs are earlier.

i still can't believe we lost those games against Coastal and USA.
sitting at 18-8 right now would be frickin unreal.

But but but Trent Johnson is the worse coach we've ever had???
This is great to hear that we are getting a little notice on the national scene. Hopefully we can keep it up!

I still think even if we win out, we will still neeed a win or two in the SEC tourney to have a great shot to get into the big dance.

if we win out and win 2 games in the tourney (Kentucky or Florida would be the second win), i think we make it.

If we win out, we are gonna have a bye in the first round. That likely means we have a shot at winning that first game, but the second would be a long shot....though it's in Nola so who knows.
I think we could compete with anyone in the league right now outside of Kentucky.
That said, winning out plus 1 win would be enough IMO, for a 10-13 seed.

i would agree had we not lost to CC and USA. those bad losses will require us to win 2 games in the tourney. beating kentucky or florida should get us in without a doubt though.

It's a shame we dropped two games to inferior competition.

like i said the other day, t he coastal loss sucked but ti was forgivable to some degree(other than getting creamed on the glass by oompa loompas)
south loss was just the worst loss ever. it will definitely be interesting if we can win out ( i have my doubts as do many others) but if we do win out or at worst go 3/4 and one we win a couple down in NOLA (let's say one of those is a vandy or a florida) it would at least be interesting.
but at the same time, after the last few weeks the fricking last thing i (or anyone else on this board) needs is a bursted bubble
i'll be glad to host an NIT game. it is fun to talk about though, considering the last couple seasons sucked whale cock.

i wouldn't sleep for a week if we were left out of the field after winning out and winning 2 games in the tourney.

Win out, get the 4 seed & a bye, and play the winner of the 5 vs 12 match.
Legit shot of being 21-10 and facing Kentucky in the 3rd round.
If Vandy loses all 3 (UK, UF and @UT), we have an outside shot at the 3 seed and would avoid UK until the championship game.

I follow this board pretty closely but it's possible I may have just missed it. I see a lot of threads about LSU being on the NCAA bubble. I have yet to see anyone mention the games missed by Johnny O and Stringer. I would think the committee would take that into account somewhat, which would obviously favor us. They are two of our top six guys. Does everybody out there thinks this doesn't matter at all?

No. If it were an All-American we were missing maybe but not those two.

Stringer wouldn't matter but if JOB has some good games like he did against USC maybe the committee takes it into consideration. I do agree that it won't help a lot. Getting the 3 seed would be awesome. I can see if happening. @UT, UK, and UF is a pretty tough schedule.
