You're looking in the 50 dollar range? I actually just bought a bottle of 15, and its great. I would recommend Macallen 10 or 12. Both are in the same price range.

yeah, that is about what Glenlivet cost. I like scotch only problem is it happens to be one of the higher priced liquors and I'm not rolling in the dough like some.
is Macallen in your opinion better than Glenlivet or about the same?

I think they're about the same. I like to buy a bottle about once a month in that price range. Havent really found one I dont like yet. What Scotch flavors do you like?

Highland Park is a good value. You can get 12 for $40, 15 for $55 and 18 for $85. I think the 15 is a very good scotch, more smooth than the 12.

how did you feel about the glenlivet?

if you're anywhere near BR and don't wanna throw down 50 on that bottle, i recommend the Cove to try some new ones out. they have a 200+ bottle selection.

Don't be shy trying some of the Japanese Scoth. Yamazaki in particular.

Thats is very much a matter of taste. In my opinion, Glenlivet is very mild. If that is what you like, fine.

The key to that question is the last few words. Yes, there are many you should try.

If I were you, and you want to try something not so common, Knockando is from that same region and should be available in the same price range. Another worth looking into is Macallan Fine Oak. The 10 or 12 should be close to that price range.

Very tasty. They have it at a Scotch bar Ive been going to. The manager was telling me that in order for the Japanese to make Whiskey they have to go train for 2-3 years in Scotland.

Definitely try some different ones. The biggest differences in scotches will be from the regions they come from. Glenlivet, Macallan and the other "Glen" scotches are from the Speyside region.

There is Speyside, Islay, Highland, Lowland, Island and Campbelltown.

The Islay scotches are very smoky/peaty. A common Islay scotch I've seen around is Laphroaig.

Read up and try some different regional scotches and see what you like.

I do like Trey does and buy about a 50 dollar bottle a month and have one here and there.

I'm a big fan of Glenmorangie. Pretty much everything they do is good imo.

Also, check out this link. Lots of good info/reviews.
