think 2 tight sets will catch on dramatically after the patriots and 49ers success.

Niners lost their #1 WR and #1 Slot receivers to injury. no wonder they went to two tight end set. They have their #1 draft choice at TE. He is the fastest TE in history. Dont expect college teams to all have one.
If you look at rivals, they dont even have a lot of highly rated TEs. The only position with fewer is FB.

I still think it was a major part of the 49ers offense before injuries... Copy and pasted directly from stanford when harbaugh was there. I know game changing TEs are rare but isn't this class of in-state TEs rare?

Dobard
Then we'll go after Morgan from Texas or Skinner/Bridgewater from instate. Not an issue aside from the people that just look for a reason to bitch. Smith is the key guy and the best talent.

RSJ is a WR from what I've heard at least for now. He'll be at Texas though imo.

Don't let yourself get caught up in which one. They're both quality guys that can fill the role needed for an LSU offense.

Otherwise, you're bound to be disappointed, based on your response.

no shot

Well, that's your words.

Unlikely both will commit to the same school, and based on some conversations I had this weekend, I'm choosing to go ahead and warm up to the idea that Dobard will be a Tiger.

And given the history of LSU success without a huge contribution from that position, I'm going to pick and choose my battles this year, when it comes to hanging on internet chatter.

Long way to go til Feb. '13.

No faith in the new WR's coach and his ties to the area for Smith?

Very long way

Since when are TEs overly productive anywhere?

I think the only one you can say is a real threat in the SEC is Orson Charles...

Not discounting what you've heard at all. Just going purely based on Smith's comments I've seen since he was offered. Dobbard has no real bearing as of now seeing as though he doesn't have an offer. He'll probably get one if I were to guess but Smith is the priority. Smith is very pro LSU or a very good deceiver. Neither would suprise me. He has always said LSU is #1 including in the past month. We'll see eventually I suppose.

RSJ... are we talking about Ricky Jefferson? Everyone using initials gets confusing sometimes. Also, if it is Jefferson, who in the hell sees him as a tight end? 6-0 and about 190 is kind of small.

Ricky Seals Jones

Also need to clarify my last post. Dobard may or may not have an offer. Some say he does, some say he doesn't so it basically comes down to who is to be believed. It won't matter as I expect him to have one but wanted to clarify.

LSU & Tight ends

LSU as well as many schools get Tight ends because they are Athletic big guys, they can become O Line or D Line, they can be Full Backs, I've seen Saban,Miles, Urban.... go after these guys and put them to use wherever they evolve.

Stephen Peterman was a tight end in High School
Henry Thomas was also a Tight end in High School

go back and look at how many kids were tightends coming out of high school only to end up something else.

don't think smith will end up at bama. they already have a te commit that is consistently "ranked" ahead of smith.

we get smith as long as we throw the ball this year.

Yea thats what i thought as well O.J. howard does look like a beast. It just seemed like was saying he was bama's so..? Plus it seemed like last year Florida had gotten a bunch of top notch TE's not sure if they were all receiving tight ends though
