He's also the only American on the team. So the sole American is the one refuses to meet his president. He's turning a non-political event (let's face it, every title team in every sport gets an invite - the only person I can think of who turned it down was James Harrison, and that was on truly bizarre "you don't invite the losers too" grounds) and turning it into a political event. Which is a shame. This is one of those "acts of state" not "acts of government". He's being a douchenozzle and making it all about himself, reportedly over his teammates objections.
If I didn't already hate the Bruins, I'd use this as an excuse to start. Thomas is a great goalie, though.

how could anyone have a problem with this? Outside of not being there with your team, that article got it right I think. It's his choice and that's what's great about this country.
