The Kingdom (2007)

Awesome, awesome movie. I saw it a couple of years ago, and have been wanting to rewatch it lately, and did so over the weekend. I forgot just how good this movie is.
For those who haven't seen it, it stars Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, and Jason Bateman.
It's about a terrorist attack on an American compound in Saudi Arabia (known as "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia"), and a team of FBI agents who travel there to try and piece together what happened, how it happened, and who is responsible.
It's a pretty intense movie. The opening scenes kinda take you by storm and things kinda get rolling from there. Ans the last 30 or 45 minutes or so are incredibly intense and action-packed and will have you on the edge of your seat.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. And for those who have, what did you think about it?
And for those that haven't seen it, there may be some spoiler-ish discussions in this thread, so be careful.

I remember seeing it in the theater, but haven't seen it since.
As I recall, it was a solid movie. Probably Peter Berg's second-best movie, behind Friday Night Lights.

One of my favorite movies.
Above average "gun scenes" and the plot actually made sense
Some were upset with the "controversial ending" but I felt it fit the tone of the movie perfectly
The scene between Danny Huston and Richard Jenkins was a very cool contrast between the warrior and bureaucrat mindset.

I loved The Kingdom, thought it was very underrated.

+1. Solid script, acting, cast, directing. It really grabs you from the beginning and keeps that same level of excitement til the end

Agree, wow. The movie gets your attention quickly and holds it throughout. Without "spoiling" too much, the part where they capture Bateman had my pulse through the roof, especially in light of that kind of stuff going on at the time IRL.

I loved this movie, I had it ranked as the best movie of 2007.
Almost cried when Faris got killed.
I don't think I've ever seen a movie that captured the actual fear and "what the frick-ness" of the first time you are riding in up armored SUV's doing like 90+...Jason Bateman nailed that shite.
There have been a few movies since, but to me this was one of the first movies that was so accurate at showing how helpless you can really feel in that world over there. There are these Oh shite moments when you realize just how far out there you really are, and if they want to frick you up, you're frickin done son. The only stretch was the fact that Jason Bateman got rescued.

She was the terrorist ring leader.

I don't remember her being in this film. But then again, I haven't watched this in two or three years.

Spoilers...
True, but I liked how captured the immediacy that is needed to get him back. So the way they handled it, I felt like it was still pretty believable...they went after him immediately because they knew once they lost him, he was dead.

this.
Spoliers:
When he was kicking the camera down to stall his beheading I was sweating in my seat.

To add, Bateman was excellent in this flick. Showed range I didn't really know he had.

Very briefly in the classroom with Fluery talking to his son's class. Think she was a teacher's aide or something

SPOILER
Yep, i definitely remember thinking that he was going to die. Also, the firefight scene right before they rescue him is very legit imho

I was surprised at how excellent this movie was. I didnt have any expectation before I watched it but afterwards I was wondering how it didnt get more pub.
I think it really captures what a fricking mess that place is. It illustrats how you dont know who the hell to trust and who the hell is going to blow you a way. It really makes you understand why our soldiers have to be hardcore with everyone that approaches.
There are some really good people and really bad people over there and know one is sure which is which.
