I know scientifically black panthers dont exist in Louisiana. I really dont care if I am believed or not. Take it for what it's worth.
Driving home from dinner in in Lacombe my wife and I saw this huge Black Panther in the roadside ditch. I got my Iphone camera out but he was gone on the next pass when i had my camera ready. I doubt it would have been an effective pic at any rate. I know I dont have pics and I dont expect anyone to believe me. I have done dental treatment on big cats so I know what they look like. This cat was so black he stood out in the darkness. I know that sounds crazy but it was like he was a void in the night. It was amazing to see him.

It appeared to be about 2 1/2 to 3 feet at the shoulder. I am going look for tracks in the am.

I dont have pics so I really dont expect anyone to believe me infidel.

Our cat looked very similar to the cat in that video. Maybe a bit bigger. Being in that wild life refuge he has a lot to eat. He was very calm and wasnt gone until our third pass. Traffic didnt seem to bother him much.

If he's three feet at the shoulder I suspect you saw a Black Sabertooth Tiger.

The most amazing thing about that video is that like our cat he was so black. He was literally a void in the night! That was the thing that amazed me most about the sighting is that he was so damn black. He was a bit chunky looking compared to the lions and tigers I have been close to. It definitely wasnt a bear. I ve seen wild black bears close up in canada. They are more a more brown color and are nearly as wide as they are long.

We've all seen shite in the woods we didn't have a good explanation for. And who knows, there may be something loose down there. Stranger things have happened. But if it's actually black, it's got to be something escaped or released because as you said, there's nothing native to here that is black and big.

Your right Faxis. There isnt suppose to be anything around here like that. Ive been in the woods all over, canada, alaska, Minnesota, washington state, even peru. Thats the thing that made me even doubt what I was seeing. Its not suppose to be there. It was blacker than the night even with the car lights hitting it. I would doubt myself, but my wife was there too. Shes a country girl raised on the river.

It was east of the park entrance just before the school. It definitely wasnt a deer. A deer would light up in the car lights and not still be black. This thing was a black void in the night even in the car lights. A adult deer would be taller. If it was a fawn it wouldn't be as long nor as wide. Proportions height to length all wrong for a deer.
It was to long for a wild hog and to narrow to be a bear.
