I thought about doing it with my girlfriend, but instead opted for an intimate evening with just the two of us.

She told me that if I would have done it where I proposed and then all of her family was there right after she would have killed me. She wanted it to be special and intimate with just us, and then be able to tell or show people individually.
Some girls love it, some girls don't. I assume he knows his girlfriend and what she likes. If it is a bad idea, I'm sure his new in-laws will tell him.

I think Cochon is a good idea. American Sector is also nearby and casual but I think Cochon has the better food. I haven't heard much lately about Rio-Mar but it gets decent reviews. A Mano is also in the area.

I know you said CBD/Warehouse, but I know someone who did the same thing you want to do and they had a great time at Ralph's on the Park.

If you do Cochon, they have the banquet room on top that you may be able to get in to.

Sort of depends on the relationship she has with her family. I find the idea very appealing and I would be thrilled that he was so thoughtful as to allow me to share the good news with my family immediately thereafter because I'd be on the phone with all of them anyway, texting photos of the ring and such.
