Great Show! A total sleeper hit at first, then BAM! Love it.

If only FX has given Terriers another season. They pulled the plug on that series with the quickness.

I hearted that show so much. Donal Logue hung the moon, imho. His timing is excellent.

after watching the entire series over christmas break. I don't know why FX didn't give this show a 2nd season.

astronomically poor ratings. FX screwed the pooch marketing it.

"The Gunfighter" was a pretty good season opener. It didnt match the intensity of "Wednesday" (southlands opener) but sets up the long play.

Ava us one of the better developed characters in the last three years. From damsel in distress to safe harbor for Boyd to second in command for the Crowder crew is crazy. Arlo coming off as dumb as he did in the first episode was disappointing, but I guess the character is grieving. Surprised the distance between Ava and Arlo's mindset nonetheless.

Anybody else thinks Winona decides to distance herself from Raylan pretty soon? Someone is always trying to kill him and Palmolive/Jiffy-pop is on the way.

Dang, brah. Here I was thinking what a perfectly written episode this was and you go and poke holes in it for me.
But everything you say is true.
I still loved the episode, though, and I am glad the new season is under way.

I never thought of Arlo as that bright. He's a low level grifter. He stole mining equipment to buy cocaine! He's a wannabe who never had the brains or guts to be the big shot. He's had his opportunities. He's cunning, but he's not very smart.

I still want to see some of the Given's cousins this season. You don't have a clan feud with the Bennets with just Arlo. Raylan has to have Uncles, Aunts, and cousins in the area. I thought we would see them when Helen died, but they just brushed over it.

Southern mountain families are BIG. An only child is still a rare exception even today. It makes no sense that there aren't more Givens out there.

In fact, it's too late now, but it would make more sense (story wise) if Raylan and Boyd were related in some way, either first or second cousins. It would give Raylan a reason to keep letting Boyd slide other than "we worked the mines together when we were kids."

me too, just commenting on it. Justified has been one of my favs since season 1(when the board hated it) I like Ava's progression, just thought that Arlo would not be a numbskull. I am sure he will get over that soon. I keep thinking Dickie doesn't get the shank and that Boyd puts him to use. Dickie is good at getting his hands dirty. Killing him would be justified though given that Arlo and Ava probably wouldnt stand for him joining the crew.

Maybe the new sheriff in Harlan pops back up?

he's not bright, but smart enough to see enough angles that he's fooled the Marshalls and Crowders from time to time. It seemed like Devil was trying to run the operation and Arlo is certainly smarter than Devil.

She sets the skillet down and it still has food in it ... she hits the dude with it and its squeaky clean. I swear... there are people over continuity on sets... especially in this instance it isn't hard to keep straight.

Can't get into in-game posting but I love to come read everyone's thoughts.

you knew he had to have a plan when he fought Raylan. he always thinks steps ahead, and everything the guy does is for a purpose.

If you need to go in you might as well "have some fun" getting there. Who better to "have some fun" with than your old buddy Raylan.

Boyd may be the best character on tv right now.

Boyd and Raylan are the DWade and Lebron of action dramas.

Who's damn team is it?

Read the interview I posted. EP says no, they don't want to make her the anchor character everyone hates holding Raylan back, so no.

saw an interesting bit about their chemistry. Walton Goggins approaches the Raylan-Boyd dynamic as two men who deep down are friends and love each other. He was surprised to find that Timothy Olyphant approaches it as two guys that truly despise each other.

Boyd will team up with Raylan every time it doesn't hurt him. Raylan will team up with Boyd only when it helps him. So I would agree.

You gotta wonder what the end game of all this is. Does Boyd sacrifice himself to help Raylan get the bad guy in some epic climax? Does Raylan end up as Harlan county's Sherriff?

Finally watched the episode last night. The final face-off was just brilliant, IMHO. Perfect Raylan.

Question: Obviously Crowder got locked up on purpose?

This board decided he definitely did it on purpose ans Raylan may have made sure he ended up in the same cell block as Dicky.
