Doesn't matter how they do it. They run for more yards on less carries. The end.

The 9ers had an historically great run D until Willis went out, then they let up a little. They still finished first in the NFL in yards per rush given up, total yards, and total rushing TDs given up.

It is. None of those guys are special. Sproles is to a degree but more as a result of his versatility in the passing game/screens.

It's an average running game that benefits from the passing game keeping defenses on their heels.

Yeah, I'd BLAME it on the passing game too.

Sproles, Thomas, and Ivory are a bunch of scrubs.

Saints managed to win the Super Bowl with a backfield of Thomas, Bush, and Mike Bell.. Its not like we need a superstar backfield to win

Your pinning your hopes on a game played almost 2 months ago against a team the saints ARE NOT playing. The ONLY teams capable of ousting the saints at this point is GB and Baltimore...saints cruise to another win

I didn't say they were scrubs. I said they were average. If you'd get outside of Saintard world, you'd find that such is how they're perceived.

Sproles is solid because of his ability in the passing game and on screens. Thomas and Ivory are nothing special, and Gore is by far superior to each of them.

Per lesean McCoy both are considered very good with sproles being exceptional.

Also he thinks Matt forte is the best back in the league. Go greenwave

Average. Sproles just broke the record for all purpose yards. He averages like over 6 yards a carry. He's straight up dangerous.

Thomas is one of the best screen backs in the league, and he's one of the best at picking up yards after contact because of his excellent balance.

Ivory is just a battering ram, and he can take over a game if given the chance.

Blow that average shite out your arse.

Just letting you know how they're perceived. Their success this season is more a function of the passing game. You can pump PT and Ivory up all you want. With the starting job on a more balanced team (or, simply not benefiting from a QB that just put up the most productive season in league history), neither would be anything to write home about. They're not terrible or anything. They're just not special. Sproles is primarily because of things he does outside the running game and because the touches he gets are on average in much better situations than your every-down back. Of course he's going to have good averages on the ground. That's nice that he has all those return yards too and the record, but that doesn't have anything to do with his abilities as a RB or make the backfield any better. Versatile, sure.

I don't know why any non-Saints fans post in Saint-related threads because it's an uphill battle none of us ever have a chance of overcoming.
