Yeah, BBCA probably uses "seasons" since its technically an American network, but for instance if you look up information on a British show or possibly the DVD's you'll find The Office Series 1, or Series 2, etc.

It reflects a different attitude towards television. American shows tend to run as long as possible. British shows tend to run for one or two years and then have a definite endpoint. Think of the difference between the two Office's.
