Blowing out Georgia masked a huge problem with our offense...

The Honey Badger's performance made us forget how bad the offense was in the first half of the SEC title game. Zero first downs in the first half. 12 total yards. Georgia gave Saban the blue print to shut down our pathetic offense.
The fact that we were able to push Georgia around in the 2nd half probably validated the game plan and gave them no reason to adjust too much.
Basically, keep doing what has worked all season (we scored 500 points) and try the few things that worked in the first Bama game. Just a really bad game plan and terrible play calling and execution.
And I will NEVER EVER understand why Lee didn't get a chance.

Agree with this post entirely.
The focus was on the result of that game, not the process, so we didn't change. UGA was the warning sign, and it was ignored.

Les thought JJ was the only chance to win the game. You knew that didn't you? JJ is the winningest QB in LSU history. JJ is a dual threat QB who brings much more with his mobility than Lee does. He shite stomped BAMA in the first game.

JJ accounted for 25 yds total offense in SECCG

You read the board. As long as we were winning, there was no reason to make any changes.
There were plenty of posts about the putrid offensive performance of the GA game, but so many responded negatively to that due to the fact that we did win.
I was hopeful that the coaches would have been able to see past the scoreboard and look at the problem areas and address them during the preparation for the BCSCG, but I guess I was wrong.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but Les Miles' unnatural love & loyalty to JJ is the answer to this question.

But he gave lsu best chance to win in fourth quarter.

Right
But the people that were saying this were strangely in favor of changing QBs despite Lee leading us to the best offensive output in years and an undefeated record. Funny how that works

Great post. Really, you can go back to the early part of the Arkansas game when TM7 ran a punt back. Offense hadn't done diddle then ,either.

We also won the first game versus Bama. When reviewing film for gameplan changes, you are much more likely to look for changes if you lose than if you win. Remember, this is not the NFL where rematches are regular. This was a unique situation that frankly we didn't handle very well. Add this to the fact that emotionally our guys saw no benefit of beating the same team again and you end up with the pounding we got.

The problem was in plain sight with that first half performance.

forgot about that.
Maybe its the gameplan we use with JJ.
The A-gap running and play action from earlier in the years seemed to spark the team more easily and our offense did not seem as flat earlier in the year.

Georgia has a terrific defense. It shut LSU down for the most part.
LSU should have learned from that performance.
I expected a much different strategy as a result.
:disappoint:
