LSU earned the right to play Bama after winning the SEC championship

Bama didn't even win the west

Lol.
Teams that don't win their division can't win championships!
Except in college football, highschool football, professional football, soccer, basketball, and womens lacross.

LSU = 4.5 ppg vs BAMA, 42.2 ppg vs Everbody Else

This same thing happened to Florida State in 1996. They finished the regular season undefeated and ranked #1, after defeating #2 Florida 24-21, to give them their first loss of the season. Then to chagrin of Bobby Bowden and the outrage of Seminole fans, they were forced to play Florida again the Sugar Bowl for the national championship and got dismantled 52-20.

The BCS did what is was supposed to do. If anything was wrong it was LSU sleepwalking into the game and getting curb stomped.

I'm all for a playoff. However, a playoff would not have changed the results of this game. And LSU earned the right to play the best team in the country for all the marbles... they did and lost, don't try to discredit it.

Having to win an extra game to earn the right to play a team we already beat in their house isn't exactly rewarding.

What did Bama do to earn their right to play in the championship? The most impressive thing they did all season was lose to LSU in overtime. LSU earned the right to play someone else because we already had a result on the turf between us and Bama.

We barely won the first game, what made anyone think our team was going to be fired up to prove something they had already proved? Of course Bama wanted it more and they got it. Doesn't change the fact that they are 1-1 this season, we just lost the second game.

That was the goal of this whole thing. Make a bad BCS game that no one wanted and then use that as an excuse to rejigger the formula.

No you don't.

Nah for real. I've felt more highly of the SEC Championship than the BCS flawed thing for years. MNC is just icing on the cake imo but I know others think differently.

We shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. We were sleepwalking because the team wasn't excited about playing a team they already gave their all to beat. Bama wanted revenge, LSU just wanted a new opponent.

Agreed. And throw in a five week layoff. Could you imagine the NFL doing that?

We lost the second game. Nothing more, nothing less. And still had the better resume. frick the BCS and ABC.

Just to put to rest all of the "rematch shouldn't happen" and that it should be considered a split 1-1 record. Remember back to 2003 when LSU lost to Georgia in the regular season at home then best UGA in the SEC Championship. Should it have been a split SEC championship then? It's a very similar situation to this year's national championship. A loss at home and a win at a "neutral" site in the opponent's home state.

Um...check out this link...I think you may be in error. besides, Mark Richt didn't have to go on national television during the SECCG and beg for a spot in the BCSNC while two other teams were playing for the SEC title.

LINK

I've been a supporter of the BCS since it has been good to LSU and a non-conference champion hasn't won before. Since that's not important anymore in terms of winning the NC, we might as well have a playoff.

You can't get fired up for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game?? LOL okay!!

Rationalize it however you want.

I'll repeat myself. I'm for a playoff, under the current system Bama needed a lot of help to get into the championship game. However, in that game we dismantled our opponent. Calling it 1-1 after a second close game is one thing--after what happened on the field, you sound ridiculous.

LSU won in OT against UGA in BR in 2003, and then stomped UGA in Atlanta. They did not lose the first game.

LSU was not up for that game. If you don't admit that you are fooling yourself.

Oh, NOW you guys want to talk about what happened on the field since it turned out in your favor this time. Well, what happened on the field in your home stadium when you had 90/10 split? And you couldn't win in OT? You can't get fired up for the biggest game in BDS in awhile?

BTW, this IS the first time a team has won the CFBNC WITHOUT winning their division or conference.

Besides, one win and one loss is still 1-1, no matter what the score.

So bitter...
Y'all should put that resume in the empty spot in your trophy case.
I'd understand if it were close... but come on, take it like a man.

Seriously? It's factually 1-1. We split the season. LSU played a tougher schedule and one extra game against a conference opponent.

I'll give Bama the performance last night, but how can you say that honestly, if the game was played 10 times, it wouldn't be 5-5.

I think LSU-Bama are #1 and #1a this year. Just MHO.
