We've got 21 commits and presumably at least 1 non-qualifier (grades) in the group which leaves 5 remaining spots and with LC out of the picture I'm curious who will fill them.

Seems like some smoke around Tracy Howard which would be huge, but it's not a given and Kwon and Mario at this point seem like long-shots.

If we get Tracy Howard (21) and Jeremy Hill (22) but not Kwon and Mario, who are our final 3 takes?

I really think Howard/Edwards is playing games. If we land them, I really don't care who we land from this point out. But Phillips is almost surely a given.

yeah, I always thought that game and what happened it the tunnel was exactly that, a passing of the torch.

I doubt it. They've seemed pretty straight forward with their recruiting so far. Plus they don't seem as narcissistic as some other recruits.

I think anytime they're visiting this late there is legitimate interest. A lot of the earlier visits are just guys coming to Baton Rouge to watch a good game and hang out with friends they've made during the process. Also, it seems like the staff will be able to make themselves more available in these post-season visits, which is good.

As LSU fans it is in our nature to want and hope that high caliber high school players like Green-Beckham and Mario Edwards would choose LSU this late in the game. The simple fact is that we are not even on the lists of interests for Edwards, Diggs, DGB, Magee, etc. Just because they are unsigned in no way indicates that we have a shot at them. A more realistic remaining five will probably look more like:
Tracy Howard
Lorenzo Phillips
Jeremy Hill
E.J Fatu
Fifth (and possibly sixth) being a toss up between Davonte Neal, James McFarland, or Richie Brown.
It is my opinion that it has always been LSU's specialty to develop strong three and four stars into five star NFL caliber players. I would be perfectly happy with five of the eight listed above.

Agree, but if Mario follows through with that visit than my stance will change.

And agree here, especially Tracy. Seems class so far.

I'm going to make a prediction right now, just for fun. It's too early to really know, but where's the fun in that.

Earlier I said:
Kiel
Collins
Phillips
Hill

Now I think with the last four spots we go:

Corey Thompson
Hill
Phillips
Edwards

You could just as easily swap Howard for Edwards, but I think the staff is harder on Edwards and has a better chance of pulling him. I think Howard wants to get away from Florida, but his mom probably wins this one.

Corey Thompson is also a mystery. I could just as easily see a local guy getting that spot. Maybe Otha Peters or Alonzo Moore. But I think they would rather get a S like Thompson. I think he'd be a good substitution for Collins. Not nearly as good, but serviceable for sure.

You would think that with the enthusiasm of SEC schools pursuing Trae Elston that LSU's name would be mentioned. I find it hard to believe that every other SEC school (East and West) have a standing offer and LSU doesn't? He doesn't have quite the size of Thompson, though but can we lure Thompson away from A&M?
As far as Edwards, I would love to see him at LSU. I am just not getting my hopes up until I hear of his LOI being signed. Watching him play in the UA game was a real treat. He has speed off the ball and reminds me of Montgomery.

Real quick, assuming this was the 2005 Peach Bowl. What happened?

Now, back to recruiting. Mario Edwards is a beast. I do think his interest is legitimate, and he did say a few things about LSU, even further back in his recruitment. I don't really think he wants to stay at FSU. Oklahoma is out. Seemed like he was going to switch to Texas before the renewed interest in LSU popped up. I do think we can snag him.

I really like Howard and think he would be the one to carry on the #7 tradition. He's a great cover corner, tackles well, and has a hint of Honey Badger in him. Supposedly it is actually his mom who told him to look around outside of Florida and not settle somewhere close if he was not satisfied. I think we have a better chance at him than Edwards.

Phillips SHOULD be a lock.
Otha is a good player and would be worthwhile.

If we do win tomorrow night, I think there could be a possibility of pulling a guy or two from other schools.

Yes... to paraphrase Michael Irvin... "They beat us on the field and then they beat us in the tunnel"

None of the important SEC schools(LSU/Bama/Auburn/Arky/UF/UGA/USCe) would take Elson at this point aside from maybe Arky and USCe and I don't think they are really interested. Clemson is the school that wanted him and he wanted most of the year but he kept screwing around and they even told him to piss off. They may change their mind at some point but currently they have told him no. Auburn may be the team to watch if their recruiting keeps at the rate it's at now. Their top prospects are falling like flies right now and not for Auburn. Elston is a solid prospect and I personally don't know exactly what the deal is but it probably has something to do with him wanting to play cb and his personality. If we pushed we could get him in a minute but I doubt we ever even look his way. I'm pretty sure his best options are 2nd level SEC schools or Louisville at this point. He greatly overplayed his hand much like Micheal Flint from Oxford. The great Oxford 3 has been a huge disappointment this year as prospects. Even Kwon was falling hard before he got hurt.

Corey Thompson [visiting on the 20th, huge weekend with Mario, etc], is a possibility but gave his visit to Nebraska a '10'.

If Nebraska is a 10, I wonder what LSU will be

I would feel much better about the safety depth and losing Collins if we get Thompson
