Posted by LSU03 Can we get a little context here? If I had to guess, I'd wager you brought up the Lee issue... He would probably say the same thing no matter how he actually feels. He knows that lots of "fans" are butthurt about the Lee issue, and so said the thing that would keep a potential drunken idiot at the casino buffet from whining his ear off. ...Then again, he coached LSU when the team was still segregated, so he might be upset about it for the same reason you are?
Yes I'm sure that's exactly it....PD must be a racist...and so is anyone who questions why JL hasn't gotten more playing time. /end sarcasm
FWIW...I agree with Doc Fenton. It's just my opinion but Miles screwed the pooch with the way he handled the situation. Whether intentional or not, the secrecy and deflection regarding the quarterback situation has left me scratching my head. At the end of the day, I'm not sure we'll ever get a clear cut answer about why things played out the way they did. And before anyone questions my fanhood...I sincerely have loved this season, despite the above.
Also, as for reasons why PD left LSU, the same rumors could be tossed and have been tossed at CLM as to why he hasn't/won't return to UM

I do not have any respect for Dietzel. He turned his back on the Tigers, to pursue a "bigger name school (Army). Screw him!

I VERY seriously doubt thatbPaul Dietzel would express an opinion atvall to a total stranger!!! Does not compute.....AT ALL!!!

We know if JJ were not available the team would not have been undefeated, however, it is not clear if the team would have lost any game if JJ played in all games instead of JL.
Do we really know this? For all we know, Mett could have come into the Bama game and lit up their secondary. Unlikely maybe, but you really don't "know" what would have happened.

I was only 12 years old and remember his words. "I WILL NEVER LEAVE LSU" Next thing you know he's leaving for his dream job at ARMY! I took up voodoo and put a curse on his arse. The rest is history.

I doubt Dietzel would say LSU is going to beat Alabama by 3 touchdowns. Pete Finney interviewed him for the TP before the first LSU-Alabama game, and while he said he was pulling for the Tigers it sounded like he thought Alabama was going to win. He thought we'd have trouble shutting down Richardson. I could see him saying we're going to win the rematch after how we played in game 1, but I don't see him saying it's going to be a blowout. At any rate, we're on the verge of a perfect 14-0 season and some of y'all are putting down Miles for the way he's handled the QB situation? It's high time to get behind the team, dudes.

Why is there a common argument that "we will never really know why things played out the way they did"? Things played out the way they did because JJ is the better QB. He shows is in games and he apparently shows it in practice. Nobody, at least not me, is saying he is anything more than an average college QB, but he is better than JL (and I like and appreciate what JL did for our team).

didn't realize that Paul Dietzel was coaching our team this year, going to practice everyday, watching game film, breaking down every snap, etc...
he's a fan; no more and no less. therefore, he has an opinion and that opinion is based on PERCEPTION only because he damn sure doesn't have the facts behind the situation.

this thread should be zapped. I'm quite sure Dietzel didn't mean for a comment like that to end up on a message board. This board should have too much respect for him to allow something like that, even if true, which I am sure it is.

Dumb to bring race into it. It is play on the field and attitude not color that matter. I have really hated to see JJ at qb but list Rohan as one of my all time faves.

quote:Its pretty evident that JJ is the better fit at QB as long as we can run the ball at will, he is good enough to pass when given time. However, take away the run like UGA did and JJ become one dimensional and very ineffective. JL can hand the ball off and can counter pitch if he settles down and plays the game he is much more effective than JJ.
