I've got a theory that a lot of whodats are so Saints-centric that their perception is skewed by not seeing enough of other teams. A good example is Greer. I've had more than one season ticket holder tell me he sucks. Sure he has been burned on occasion. In today's NFL though everyone tastes a little fire. I've complained of the poor tackling by the DBs on a whole. The following chart shows that. But he does rate 2nd in the entire league for success rate. Note the number of targets also. With a fast scoring offense and a average-ish defense on a whole, he has the 2nd most # of passes thrown against him.

Top 12 CB in Success Rate, 2011 (through Week 13)
Player Team Passes Suc% Yd/Pass Avg Dist YAC
D.Revis NYJ 30 73% 3.0 17.1 2.2
J.Greer NO 63 71% 5.6 11.2 7.1
I.Taylor PIT 72 70% 4.9 13.7 2.6
R.Sherman SEA 49 69% 6.1 13.4 3.0
A.Samuel PHI 55 67% 4.5 14.8 2.2

Nice article. I've been on the Greer bandwagon since he signed with the Saints. His impact on the 09 team was incredible and you really get to appreciate it when you watch them live (since the cameras rarely give you a view of the whole secondary). He has shut down some great receivers since he's been here. His production dropped off last year after the shoulder injury, but he's had a nice "rebound" season.

I don't think his level of play has quite been on the 09 level, but he's still doing a very good job out there. GW often leaves him with no safety help and he usually lines up against the best WR on the other team. So naturally he's going to get beat from time to time, but he wins most of the battles out there. His signing was one of the top 4 or 5 moves made during the Payton/Loomis era.

His only issue on that stat sheet is the YAC. I guess that is due to us playing so far off the receivers. That is likely a scheme issue though rather than a ding on him personally.
