Said his parents were keeping him in line after that suspension thing, and how ashamed he was after that.
Sheila brought that up, unprompted. She said "He knows he hurt himself (for the Heisman) by getting into trouble".
Awhile back when it first happened, she said her & Tyrone were shocked when it happened because he has never been in trouble before or done anything like that. She said he regretted what he did to jeopardize himself and LSU. She said, "No matter how we stress to him doing the right thing, bottomline, he is just a 19 y/o kid with everyone telling him how great he is & pulling him in all directions, and that feeling of invincibility can go to your head."
I added,"Now, imagine this, you are 19 years old, and everyone is telling you how great & amazing you are,...and then...you the one 19 year old in the country that can back it up." She said, "I never thought of it like that. That's scary."

Beyond a cool story

It really is sad that these grown men flash a
couple thousand dollars in front of kids( most whom have need had much in life) and the only people whom can get in trouble is the kids.

Just the damn thought of RG3 coming to LSU makes me jizz in my pants! LSU could have won back to back to back NC's 3 damn times. LSU would have been transformed into the "Greatest show in college" like the Rams. glad he didn't come because Crowton would have screwed that up!

Tony Dorset is "hilarious" and kept them laughing at a dinner
First of all - I am a huge Steelers fan, so I was consistently on the other side of Roger the Dodger and Tony Dorsett. However, there was a charity basketball series during the mid-70s where the players from the Cowboys and Steelers would travel around and raise money. I was still a kid, but my parents took me. The game was at Louisiana College, and we had floor seats. Our game featured some of the more well-known Cowboys against some of the lesser known Steelers. I remember Danny White, Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Tony Dorsett being on the Cowboys.
Dorsett is not very big for a Heisman winner or an NFL HOF member. He played point guard for the Cowboys and was a very good BB player (for a football player). On one play he chases the ball into the lap of the lady next to me, Dorothy Barrios - in the span of about 2 seconds he made 3 clever jokes, got everybody around us laughing, made her feel better and got back in the game.
I was always impressed by that kind of personality and effort in a charity event. Tony Dorsett - one of the good guys.

may not be very big, but give him a seam and watch him leave you dust as he accelerates to top speed in seconds, that run in Cowboy stadium always shoots through my mind how fast he arrived at the endzone in what seemed like 4 seconds.

Thanks for sharing your stories!!!
I've had the DISpleasure of meeting many current and former Cowboy players. I would not count Dorsett among them.
From my brief elbow-rubbings - He's a truly great example of how a player should play on the field and represent himself off of it - A 100% class act all the way.

Punctuation fix

Good anecdote from Dorsett
I can imagine the tempo of his stories could've been ramped up even more when having a nice dinner & possibly a couple of cocktails involved.

With Crowton here? Not a chance.
