As per yesterday's thread, I'm going with the wife to Vincent's. We are getting to NOLA a little earlier than we thought so we need a bar in the uptown area to hang out before our reservations. Thoughts?

What kind of place kind of place do you want. Depending on the weather, there is a nice old placed called the Columns that is a little further up the road on the same side as Vincents. Good place for nice drinks on the front porch.

Cooter Browns is at the end of Carrolton where it hits river rd. Great beer place and a pretty unique place if you've never been in there.

Go to Oak on Oak street ...

Less than a 1/2 mile from Vincents.

Smoke is not a big issue unless it like a volcanic eruption.

I've been to Cooter Brown on several occasions.

We are looking for something a little nicer than Cooter's but not necessarily upscale.

The Columns is about 5 blocks from where we are staying for the weekend. Think we'll hit that and then take the streetcar to Vincent's.

Are you staying at one of the B&B's on St. Charles?

My wife and I stayed at one recently. We did drinks at the Column's at then dinner at Gautreaus.
I like your street car idea.
