You're right. He is scared. So very scared. Too bad Les can't motivate his players to play well in big games, especially not against Saban coached teams. It's not as if he coaches well enough against Saban to have a winning record against him or to beat Saban's "best team ever" on the road. It's not as if Les coached one of his worst LSU teams versus an undefeated national championship team and went toe to toe on the road against said awesome team.
No, none of that never happened. Les is and should be scared of Alabama and Saban. Clearly Bama has his number and Les should have preferred to play any other top 5 program.
This post brought to you by sarcasm.

i don't think i have ever heard this about Miles. not once.
In 2006 when we lost to Aub and Fla I heard lots of people sarcastically call him "Big Game Les."
We'd blowout lesser teams but lost two huge ones. The road wins over Tenn and Ark helped overcome that reputation that same season.

When Les with at OSU, he did not back down to Stoops at all. Miles was not intimidated. He welcomed Big Bad Stoops. Everyone else was scared of OU but Les held his own and stared down big bob.
Miles is about facing the giants and slaying them. He aint looking for an easy way out. He knows his team and what his team can do. He doesn't chicken out to anyone including Satan Saban.
Miles will win this game on the 9th. Saban will be his bitch. book it.

Four top ten teams on the road including the eventual national champ.

Well I look at it like this..Miles is surrounded by the best coaching staff hes ever had at LSU and with the talent he has theres no reason to back down to any opponent.

Les was toeing the SEC company line. Bama in the BCS game means more money for everyone in the conference.

Um, no, as in Les wasn't worried about the SEC line, or no as in there isn't more money?
Someone else on here said that there wasn't more money involved. I looked it up and I can't find where they are getting that information. The per team payout for the BCS NC game is $18 million, which means that Bama will draw $1 million more than they would have if they played in the Sugar.
That said, it really has nothing to do with this topic, so let's move along.

Did Les want a rematch? Not particularly, I don't think. His advantage in bowls come in his prep. That's a knock on his advantage if he's played the team already. The other team can adjust based on what happened on the field, not on what they plan to happen.
His comments, IMO, were more respectful and acknowledging that Alabama was an elite team, and if LSU were to face them again if there were no other real viable options, they were worthy of being there.

The team's goal is to win a national championship - period. Les has got us to the alter, he knows he has no control over the selection of the other team thus Miles strength is getting his team prepared with a respite period before the game -- he is big time -- He has our team believing that we are going to beat this Alabama team and geaux down the greatest college football team in the BCS ERA
