Everyone is saying this is one of if not the most dominant teams college football has seen. This is without question one of if not the most successful season any College football team has had. We are on the verge of solidfying a very good case for a dynasty in a rematch against our most hated, formidable rivals and our most hated rival coach. All the acomplishments of this season will be greatlly dimeninshed with a loss on Jan. 9th, in my opinion. What do you think?

Count me in. After watching LSU football for over 35 years, there is no doubt in my mind. Some are just too young to appreciate. Here's trusting we get victory on January 9 and this goes down as the greatest LSU football team in history. Enjoying the hell out of it.

EVER???

I say that was the 03 National Championship.

That is what legitimized our program in the modern BCS era.

This is important in "dynasty" talk, but even if we lose, it's not like we won't be considered an elite program.

Not even close. The Bama game last year was much more impt. If LSU loses that game, there would have been a decent chance Miles would have been gone. The fans definitely would have wanted him gone and LSU could have possibly been looking for a new coach.

That's what I'm talking about. Since this season is by far the most successful we've ever seen (so far) we need to put the icing on the cake Jan 9th or it suddenly falls back to a season that can be compared to several others and minus a National Title. So yes, this is a hugely important game.

03 NCG was really big and started it all, but it was watered down after Choklahoma lost the B12CG. 07 was with Sabans players. So I agree with the OP, this is the most important game. It's legitimizing Les Miles and LSU as becoming elite.

Important? Obviously. Extremely important? Yep.

Most important ever? No.

Yes. I say it's most important because what has already been done this year and what finishing means to the overall LSU football program. It also has lots to do with who we're playing and how we got here.

This game could really launch LSU into the stratosphere of being the top program in the country and an all-time top 10 program. We hit Texas, Michigan, Ohio St. status with a win on January 9th, in my opinion.

But, a loss does not hurt us very much. Nothing will take away from this season, especially since we beat Alabama at their place earlier. Plus, we will be loaded and will be the preseason #1 most likely, so any disappointment will be replaced with a "wait till next year" attitude. Much of the media will defend us and say that we never should have had to play the game again anyway.

So, it is very important for what it could do for the program, but a loss is not debilitating. It is not a "make or break" type of game - more like a "make" type of game.

Disagree

This season has been amazing and the SEC title is great...but the crystal football is what really matters

At this point, this season without the NC would be a disappointment

Can't be disappointed about an SEC Championship season. Would be disappointing to lose the BCS game but that doesn't make it a disappointing season. That is ridiculous.

It would make the season feel very incomplete

Sorry, but being undefeated and being #1 for 90% of the year...gotta cap it off with the NC

I disagree bc the next 2 years we will be really good as well. I think it's a much more important game for Bama to win bc they won't beat us next year.

Nope. We need to win now. Strike while the iron is hot. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Anything could happen next year and mess it all up. If we finish it off on Jan 9th we will have climbed the mountain. Next year and the year after will be indicative of our staying power but doing it all this year gets us to the top and no arguements can be made about who is the king of the mountain in college football.
