I am rewatching the Bama game.

So far a few observations:

1.) TM7 had a much bigger half than Bama thinks. Jumped to prevent AJ from throwing causing the sack. He should get credit for the sack. Also saved a TD on the blown coverage on TR. Made 2 solid tackles preventing more yardage...specifically the big TE.

2.) JL first pick was a bad snap and he threw to a spot. He never really got to see the play develop. Bad throw but not entirely his fault. He threw some nice passes then seemed in a daze after the pick.

3.) Both team have had some penalties kill drives. We had some that helped Bama extend drives big.

4.) We blocked a kick. Our punter is great.

5.) Bama's kicker isn't as bad as I thought. We just forced him to kick from extreme distances.

6.) Ford's burst of speed is amazing against Bama. We need more Blue and Ford off tackle against Bama.

7.) JJ's accuracy was way off. I hope he gets 90% w the first team in practice. He was really only effective in the option. His throw to RS should have been a TD if he had better accuracy.

8.) To the last line on point # 7...we missed a huge opp to score a TD to end the half. Better pass or more time and we score a TD.

Bama missed two open TD passes, not counting the Maze/INT/Reid.

we were lucky.

LSU better be able to drive for 80 yards a couple of times, because I expect that TR & co. will do exactly that.

Wasn't that bad. Around mid-thigh. He just overreacted.

That was Saban getting cute and outsmarting himself. At least twice he opted for the FG attempt when a well-placed punt would've pinned us deep.

Gotta know your kicker's limitations.

60%cr is way off?
LSU's team 52.9%cr was drug down by Lee actually.

You do realize 50% of the top 10 rated NFL QBs complete at very near 60% rate?
JJ also threw 75% vs Gumps in 2010.

I think you need to research how well other QBs performed vs UA,
The highest % was Vandy at 62.5%, UF was 60.9%, Hogs 60% and after that only AU and LSU were above 50%.

I watched again too.

I am concerned with Simon's agility. Hanks and maze are quick and slants are high in the bama off.

Spencer Ware was in a power formation with 10 seconds left. The ball was flipped to him and he had an option of off tackle and one CB or take the middle and take on 5 DT/OLBs... Really? I saw zero vision from him. You always take off tackle at the four yard line against one CB and a time out left.

Jarrett lee is a sad man. He has no confidence in his ability to lead. That freshman year screwed him up because the only other QB I have seen shy way from contact in Tony Romo.

Our oline was awesome! If we get blue and ford more attempts than we already know what we will get but putting Hillard in spells trouble. Again I'm not sold on ware. Last year Ware was insane in the bowl game but he has regressed.

The only thing that will make or break LSU is JJ. He loves looking at option one and then running. Often times, he pulls up on that throw and takes off. Problem is Saban will SPY him with that 3-4 D.

Btw I think bama's kickers suck arse! The long FG kicker for bama does a hop and bends his knees too much. When you do this, you throw off you balance and the balls will go anywhere. The guy has a big leg but that is the ugliest swing I have seen.

I also re-watched it on Friday evening.

I said it from the conclusion of the game that Nick should NOT have went for field goals; therefore, their scoring potential would not have looked so good! Ever heard of punting Nicky?

I thought JJ's throw to RS was meant for the other receiver and Shep was just there thankfully???

Although Bama did run a lot on LSU, they only entered the red zone once, AND the reason they had these long drives was because of our excellent punter and their blantant penalities. In addition to the interception Reid made on the 1 yard line, LSU was in much better scoring position throughout the entire game. If LSU had more than 15 seconds before the end of the the 2nd quarter they would have scored 7 points easily! We had 1st and goal but not enough time!

Kudos to Claiborne for the interception! He provided a spark when our team needed it most!

I'm not sure Shep could have caught that ball in the the endzone....Hubby says NO!

So to the gumps--see ya on--January 9, 2012 in the Louisiana Superdome! (Ok I know it's officially the Mercedes Benz Superdome)........

I agree. I am dubious about Mr. Jefferson's ability to be accurate consistently. Had he thrown a good pass to Sheppard, 'Bama likely goes to the Sugar Bowl.

I thought JL looked fine initially on a few completions, and shell shocked after pick. After not having thrown many during the season, it certainly seemed to affect him.

Agreed. Plus we'll have to get in between the tackles. Hilliard will be huge- he can challenge their LBS head on behind Copeland.

JJ always seems to be hot or cold with accuracy. He was terribly inaccurate in SECCG. I expect him to play well in January.

It was a late throw...but Shep fell down, for no reason.

I just happened to rewatch it last night. I mostly agree but have a couple of comments below.

quote:

2.) JL first pick was a bad snap and he threw to a spot. He never really got to see the play develop. Bad throw but not entirely his fault. He threw some nice passes then seemed in a daze after the pick.

I disagree with this. It was completely JL's fault. The snap was low but JL panicked. He thought the rush was coming but we picked it up. He actually had a lot more time than he thought. So he got the low snap looked up and threw to the only guy in double coverage: Russell Shepard. Meanwhile Beckham made a double move on the outside and was even with his defender when JL threw the pass to RS. OBJ just flew by his man and it would have been a TD if JL had had the presence of mind to look his way. I also noticed that JL came out playing well but seemed to tighten up as the game went on.

It wasn't so much his accuracy but he was late on almost every pass. On the throw to RS, if the ball comes out sooner, RS is completely alone over the middle because of a blown coverage. (3 defenders took one guy [DLo?] and nobody took RS.)
