Or other?

If, in the end, Emperor Stearn scares away all potential suitors, what does Paul do? What would you do?

Try to put aside your love for NO and the Hornets, and consider it from an employee/employer POV.

Litigate.

Stern taking a direct hand in the Hornets' negotiations, spiking deals agreed upon by Demps, Sperling, and Weber, makes for an easy suit IMHO.

He'll play.

Look I'm pissed too, but how is this any different than any owner nixing a deal? The only difference is our owner is the NBA.

Stern did the right thing if they were forcing us to choose between their only real assets.

On what grounds? The purpose of the CBA is to keep the courts out of the League's business. He can file a complaint with the union, but the Hornets have no obligation to trade him, he's under contract.

Stern and the rest of the league office had told EVERYONE involved that Demps had authority to deal, then only shite-canned things when one had been reached.

Then they kept changing their story as to whether Stern vetoed it as NBA commissioner or whether "Hornets ownership pulled out of the deal", which is how they kept the Lake Show from appealing.

If that shite goes to court, the league loses. Badly.

A GM always has authority to deal, but he's got to get permission of ownership before he does any deal.

I'm sure owners nix deals all of the time and we don't know about it.

Stern made the right call in the case of the Clippers.

But not in the case of the Lakers, ESPECIALLY if the second deal was as good as reported before the Lakers pulled out due to Stern's demands.

What basis does CP3 have to litigate? Seriously, people are acting like that is a legit end to this saga and it is not. He has no contractual right to force a trade to the team of his liking.

CP3 and his puppetmasters were fighting to keep his value down on the trade market so the Lakers or Knicks could afford him. His behavior is a big reason why we are here and their meddling would be introduced in any lawsuit.

I'd settle for a gigantic ugly lawsuit that saw offsetting damages of $1 to each party if it meant that both sides got verbally smacked down in court.

the courts couldn't help CP3 since he's still under contract with NO

Again, one of the main reasons a CBA exists is to keep disputes between the league and players out of the courts. That's why they had to dissolve the union to sue the league.

And what law/rule does an owner overruning their GM violate? Is it the GM's team or the owner's team?

we don't know what the trade included now do we? If they nixed it because both of those things weren't there then yeah, probably a good move. If the rumor is true that Stern wanted them to include Bledsoe and another first then he's a fricking moron.
