I finally got it working and now I'm downloading the patch. Looks like I'll get very little time in tonight if at all.

I played for 30 minutes and am not feeling it. I find just moving around like nails on a chalk board.

Been playing it since probably 8:30ish. I love it so far. Just got my light saber.

Now I'm slicing through hammer head alien dudes like Paula Deen through some Country Crock.

I'm sort of offended by the revised thread title Dourden.

I get the feeling so far that it's way more solo/RPG oriented than MMO oriented. You should enjoy it once you give it more time.

Low level stuff seems that way so far.

EDT: Reminds me a lot of Champions Online and Conan so far when it comes to running solo.

As a long time WoW player, would I enjoy this game?
Contemplating picking this up!

You would. It's pretty much WoW in another universe. I've enjoyed it thoroughly so far, and I hated leveling in WoW. As long as they keep up endgame stuff it'll be great. One of the best parts is having a crew to send on missions to get mats and craft things for you. No more mining for hours on end.

Ok awesome. I'm going to pick it up during lunch. Looking for a good tanking class, any suggestions?

Are you gonna roll empire or republic?

Here's some basic info:

SWTOR Tank Classes – The Galactic Republic

There are three different tanks available for the Galactic Republic in SWTOR:

Guardian: The Guardian is one of the advanced classes of the Jedi Knight. The Guardian looks to be the most standard MMORPG tank. Its aptly named “Defense” talent tree gives it the talents needed to be a great tank.

Shadow: The Jedi Shadow is an advanced branch of the Jedi Consular class. This class is the most unusual of the Galactic Republic tanks since the Jedi Consular itself starts as a caster and melee hybrid.

Vanguard: The Vanguard is an advanced specialization of the Trooper class. Its Shield Specialist talent tree gives it the abilities it needs to become a tank. Since it has a Trooper background, this tank will likely excel at ranged enemies.

The Sith Empire Tanking Classes

The Sith Empire also has three tanking classes available to it. While these classes are different, they are fundamentally the same. The Trooper mirrors the Bounty Hunter, the Jedi Knight mirrors the Sith Warrior, and the Jedi Consular mirrors the Sith Inquisitor.

Juggernaut: An answer to the Guardian of the Republic, the Juggernaut is a standard melee tank of the Sith Empire. Its Immortal talent tree contains defensive and HP-boosting talents that allow to be a great tank.

Powertech: The Powertech is an advanced class stemming from the Bounty Hunter class. Its Shield Tech tree allows it to tank. It looks like this class may excel at AoE tanking thanks to its Flamethrower which hits multiple enemies.

Assassin: The Assassin is an advanced class of the Sith Inquisitor. Its Darkness talent tree is geared for tanking purposes. Unlike the other tanks, this tank seems to have a decent amount of self-healing abilities in the form of drain attacks. This gives it the potential to double as a great solo class.

Empire per chance? And I imagine tank spec in pvp is not viable so my next question would be Are there dual specs?

Empire.

I don't think they had it in beta, but from everything I've read they plan on adding it ASAP. For all I know it may have been added already.

Tanks in PVP are actually viable. Taunting doesnt work but that doesn't mean you can't do some damage.

In all actuality, Bounty Hunters (Tanks) are typically topping the damage charts in PVP matches that I have been in. With the AoE attacks that they have they can really deal out some nasty damage.

I know that dual specs are on the horizon but how soon they come in I have no idea.

Juggernauts have a PVE problem in my experience... At least until later levels, they seem to have trouble generating enough threat to be a main tank. They are pretty viable solo tanks, though.
