Strong is the best guy. head coach, SEC experience, defensive minded, and recruiting ties to florida. no brainer.

Sumlin's air raid in the SEC

Two Heisman winners at OU and their beat downs of the horns have something to say about "Air Raid" Sumlin coaches and adjusts the offense to get the most out of his players. Air raid works best now, but he ran very different offenses as OC at A&M and OU before he got the HC job at Houston.

ETA: Glad to see you're back Johnny,

frick Sumlin. I will cry if he gets the job.

Hearing rumors about Dan Mullen and Dabo Swinney also being interested in the job.

Sumlin, Strong, Fedora and Smart have all been interviewed yesterday or today in NYC.

1) I hope the media is right and TAMU should be happy to have Kevin Sumlin . 1 Loss discredits a man, c'mon man. He took a program that was in the dumps to the Top 10. Art Briles took UH out of the cellar by recruiting players that were thugs, and he's doing it at Baylor. Sumlin kicked half of the players Briles brought on at UH because they broke "Team Rules". Basically he wouldn't let them act like trash. He rebulit UH in 4 years and brought it to heights that UH has never seen.

Don't discredit a man who took an anemic Aggie offense in 2002 that was in the dumps to an upset of #1 Oklahoma and turned it into the success it is today. After RC was let go Bob Stoops tapped Sumlin to run OU's offense that saw not 1 but 2 Heisman QB winners during his tenure.

Sumlin was a defensive player (and all Big 10) that is really knows how to win on the offensive side of the ball (Its where he got his shot after being a Grad Assist.) but respects defense unlike Sherman. The Aggies would be lucky to have Sumlin with the talent the Ags possess.

Personally my vote for the Ags is to hire Kirby Smart but the Ags can do a whole lot worse than Sumlin, and not much better.

Give me Smart or Fedora out of the rumored 4. Fedora bringing Zook and Wickline with him could be nice.

To our LSU fans:

When you hear Aggies saying that coaches like Mullen and Dabo are candidates......do you see that as realistic, or think that we are dreaming.

On the surface, A&M > MSU, and at least = to Clemson....except we are in Texas, and in the SEC.

IMO, it is simply a matter of whether or not we are willing to pay 3.5-4M for a coach. If so, both of those are more than realistic....Agreed?

Hey pal, how's it going? Actually, Sumlin would be a terrible hire for your Aggies. As much fun as I poke at A&M, I dont necessarily want to see a university from Texas get blown out every week. Sumlin's air raid WOULD NOT WORK in the SEC, big 12 yes, but I see big trouble for the ags running that offense against SEC west defenses. Yikes.

I'm sure you can't wait to root for your fellow Texans in the SEC each season....

Texas fans have forever questioned how Aggies could root for teams from California and Alabama against UT in the NC, so I'll be happy to see how much more mature UT fans are, and willing to root for their fellow Texans in out of state competition.

I saw a post that mentioned mark richt, I don't think its possible but that would be an amazing hire for the ags if it could be pulled off. Realistically, the ags should go with smart though, hell, kinda wish Texas would go get Kirby

Aggies are still Texans, and Texas IS football, hate to see the rivalry end and hope UT was joining in the SEC, but this texan will always pull for texas teams, gig em in the sec ags.

Fedora is a real high energy guy that runs a great offense but he would have to hire a solid DC if we were to be competitive in the SEC. Deruyter obviously isn't getting the job done since miller and hodges left. Not to say he can't but I just don't see it.

My vote is with Strong, he coached a rock solid defense at UF and his offense at louisville was pretty good. Plus he's been able to basically pull louisville out of the gutter. Plus the fact the he way turned down for an HC job for so many years means he's got something to prove and I think he'll work his arse off to do it.

With that said I trust the bowtie and will support whoever they hire (for at least four years).

I agree but I don't think A&M can afford him right now.
