Well, if the common denominator among these teams is that they all carry 1 loss, then the clear way to separate them, based on that which unifies them, is to examine each team's '1 loss'. That should be a pretty simple formula.

By this rationale, there is no reason not to take Houston. Focusing solely on the loss is stupid. We should look at the WINS. What did that team actually accomplish?

If we only look at losses - Houston's "nobody" is the clear winner.

So if Boise was able to schedule LSU instead of UGA and that was their only loss they would be equally deserving? Who cares who they beat it's all about who they didn't beat.

This is entirely correct, Gump. Know why? Count up how many wins against ranked teams Alabama has and count up how many wins against ranked teams OSU has.

I can see why you'd want to focus on what they have in common as opposed to what makes them different.
