We used to have a lease South of Houma and we would slaughter the mallards. I found these and figured I'd share them with yall. All the pictures are from the early 2000's.

17 greenheads from one blind
(yes, we had a massive blind lol)

Pow Pow shot a double banded duck, one band was for a $100 reward!

My first goose lulz

In one season (dont remember the exact one) we killed over 700 ducks, 450+ being mallards and 300 of them were drakes. Damn I miss those days

I love fishing that canal. Last year I caught a redfish, bass, goggleeye, catfish, shad, and flounder out of that canal in one trip on one bait.

After the duck hunt we'd clean the birds, take a nap, I'd go deer hunting and my little brother would go fishing off the dock. Like you said, he'd catch perch, bass, catfish, and redfish

I will have to scan some of our old pics from Golden Ranch. That place was heaven as well. Never did spectacular with the ducks but the deer hunting was great. That was a prime spot for ducks hat. Why did ya'll give it up?

Mallards quit coming down. The ponds started to grow over a lot and there was really no reason to keep it, we actually had trouble sometimes shooting non-mallards to finish a limit

ETA: I want to try to get back in it for the deer hunting depending on the price, I'll look into it this year

This may sound crazy but i have never killed a mallard. shite loads of teal, ring necks, dogris, widgeon, grey ducks and a few red heads but never a damn mallard.

Bayou Dude, you should have seen the ducks on golden ranch land in the late 60's and 70's. I can't remember the first year that they started leasing out there (it wasn't golden ranch at the time) but we would kill limits in minutes.

Of course back then we baited and everything else, but it was amazing the ducks that area used to hold. We would kill everything there, mallards, pintail, cans, everything. It was some fine hunting! It's a shame it's not what it was saltwater just ruined it.

eta: Hat.. very nice pictures, wish we still had mallets like that in SE LA.

I haven't duck hunted since my father passed away in 1991. But I have noticed I never see them anymore. Why do they not come down here anymore?
