How often did Saban's name come up for other college jobs? Serious question because I only remember his name for NFL jobs so I'm just wondering if it ever did.

It was just NFL jobs when he was at LSU, that was his "dream" at that time. I expect him to retire at Bama, I would not be shocked however if he took another job.

Realistically, while he was here, college jobs didn't interest him much - LSU is a pretty good job (as is Bama, I give ya'll a lot of grief, but it's tinged with respect) - but this guy doesn't want a pretty good job. He wants history. That's why Bama was never a good fit - it will take 40 or 50 more years for ya'll to remotely forget about Bryant - another 20 just to ease off.

The angry little man from WV has an ego that cannot be underestimated. If he can't do it straight up, he'll get there by any means necessary.
