Even though, I know a lot of people seem are upset because it seems Bama gets a bye week, which feels like we are being punished since we have to play an extra game. However, I would like to think that this benefits LSU, for our players won't be sitting around for an additional week. I feel like they will still be fresh while Bama will have to knock some of the rust off. Although, I do wonder about injuries. Anyone else agree or disagree?

I agree. The SEC champ has been playing an extra game for years compared to most conferences and they still win the NC game EVERY TIME the SEC champ plays in it. Championship games are different than regular season games and they prepare you for the NC. It's good experience and players are not as rusty. If you polled the Bama players and asked them if they would trade places with LSU, I bet everyone of them would vote YES.

Sitting idle for 43 days is NOT an advantage in college football.

Were not the only people who notice Bama is getting a free pass. If Bama does win, it will come as an asterisk beside there name. I don't want half the title, but this point will be made over and over if Bama just barely beats Lsu.

On artificial turf, in a Dome, at full speed. I consider it a HUGE advantage.

Plus a full week of extra practices.

Anyone know the NCAA rules on practices for bowl games?

well, winning the SECCG definitely, beyond the shadow of any doubt puts LSU in the MNC game whereas Bama sitting home only most likely gets to go. But it's far from a certainty, with that Bedlam game still to be played. So, aside from the benefit of being the SEC Champ this year, being certain of the shot to play for all the marbles is pretty cool, too. Bama doesn't have that, no matter what the ESPN talking-heads are trying feverishly to convince everyone of right now.

IF there are no injuries, the SEC champ. game is an advantage to LSU. The longer a team does not play, the more game-speed rusty it gets. In fact, I wish the SEC was two weeks away to close the gap in playing for the NC. Advantage LSU. with a big asterick barring injuries.

In the grand scheme of things, the SEC championship is a huge deal. Anyone who is devaluing its importance is just wrong and under-appreciates its significance to the program currently and in the long term.

The only risk is injury. But LSU has depth, we have been fairly injury free this year, and there is a long break between games that will allow for recovery except for serious injury.

LSU has a great opportunity here. I wish that folks would understand that. We have an extra game that will benefit us in preparation and practice time. And if the worst happens, and we lose to Bama, we still will have a championship season, assuming we beat Georgia. And that is hugely important.

Plus let's not forget, the winner of the last FIVE SECCG's also went on to win the BCSCG.
