Despite what people think, even the people here in SEC land do not want a rematch, nor do they think that it is fair that LSU, who already beat Bama IN Tuscaloosa should have to go play an SEC championship game IN Atlanta GA. against Georgia, for the right to have a rematch against a Bama team who gets to sit home, get healthy and watch that game on tv. So LSU has to play an extra game just to have to beat Bama twice ? When all Alabama has to do is beat LSU once ? BS. If there are any BCS conference champs with one loss (just like Bama has). That will be LSU's opponent should LSU win out. You will see the voters reevaluate after the last games are played. Geaux Pokes ! Down with The Gumps.

Alabama fans need to become Stanford and Virginia Tech fans the rest of the way.

If Oklahoma State beats OU, their computer ranking will crush Alabama. Right now, they're #2 in four of the six computer polls. If they beat OU, they'll be #2 in all of them.

Then it comes down to how many voters push them to #2. This post on the OSU forum is claiming that they'll need just over 25% of the human voters to put them at #2 to leap frog Alabama.

A Stanford and/or Virginia Tech loss makes that scenario much more likely.

i believe that, if lsu beats arkansas and uga, there will be a predominate feeling in the country opposing a rematch. there is already a huge anti-sec sentiment and the human voters will probably vote a non-sec team in and hope that that is enough to overcome a computer result. it's moot right now because okie lite has not defeated ou and lsu has not defeated arkansas and uga.

100% agreed. Okie St or even VT has a shot. I don't think the rematch will happen after the conf CG take place.

This is the right answer. Too bad the media doesn't want to hear it.

CowboyJD said: ? It's the reservation system established by the BCS bowl. You name the team you are reserving a ticket for. If they are in, you can buy a ticket guaranteed. If they aren't, you lose your money. Then you team specific reservations can be bought and sold on a secondary market. Exactly, point is, LSU fans personally lived it in 07 and remember what happened in 06 with Mich/Ohio state rematch that never happened, just like Bama/LSU wont happen as long as there is a viable and reasonable 1 loss conference champ. The pollsters will move you up trust me. Just beat OU and we will try and do our part.

Alabama probably is the second best team. Still, that would be pretty lame if we go to Atlanta for one more game and they get to just sit home on their brains and take it easy for a rematch, considering we beat them in Tuscaloosa.

But, seriously after Florida State and Oklahoma we have benefited from the BCS as much as anyone. Its probably our turn to get screwed.

Alabama better be careful as to what they wish for, though. Beating them twice in one season and doing this one in the Superdome would be pretty sweet.

This math is sound, but unless the tide turns (no pun intended), the national media seems to support a rematch. This is different than when Florida leapfrogged Michigan in '06. It's also not like when they lined up to prop up LSU in '07.

Something will have to change their mind. Their influence on the polls is enormous.

A weak performance against Auburn by Bama, combined with a crushing of OU by Okie St would do it. Also, LSU probably needs to take care of business against Arkansas and UGA to make them a clear SECCG.

Having no other 1-loss conference champion would help Okie State.

Keep in mind that 2/3's of the BCS are still human polls (Coaches & Harris).

There are 12 coaches in the SEC & probably several elsewhere that would vote LSU & Alabama 1/2. There are only 59 1st place votes, which means just under 60 voting coaches already.

12 coaches voting LSU/Bama 1/2 would be 21% of the coaches poll voting for a rematch, already. I'm not sure they realize exactly how much impact that'll have.

We need to start preparing for Bama after next weekend, pure & simple.

We did it once. We'll do it again.

Two things:

First, the coaches poll is going to shift. Most coaches don't fill out the poll ever week, some graduate assistant does. But they'll fill it out the last week of the season. Most of the Big 12 coaches will put Oklahoma State above Alabama assuming an OSU win. I'd be willing to bet most of the coaches out West will as well being that the Pac-12 won't have a one-loss team.

Second, Alabama's schedule will hurt them. They're done after Saturday. Oklahoma State plays the 7:00 p.m., nationally televised prime-time game on December 03 against its biggest rival. There is literally no one else playing at that time. The only other televised game is BYU v. Hawaii. The pundits will hype the shite out of this game because its on ABC (same owner as ESPN). I guarantee you that the discussion before the game will be whether OSU deserves a NC birth if they beat OU.

That doesn't bode well for the Tide.

does anyone else sometimes forget that LSU stands for "Louisiana State"? not sure why, it just always looks very strange to see it written out.

I sometimes see Louisiana Tech and wonder why the hell they are losing to St. Mary's of the Blind, before I remember they aren't LSU.

For sure. When I read the OP I originally thought, "What is he talking about? Doesn't LSU play Arkansas this weekend?"
