Hey bud,

As far as I can tell, you know nothing of Richard Lipsey. He actually owns about 5 successful businesses now since the "Sporting Goods" store was closed down, which is now the "13th Gate." All I can say is that I know him really well and your not even close on these comments. Try to look up "LSU TOP 100" and that might tell you more about just 1 of his businesses.

So I just Googled it & LSU took the list down. It's a 404 on their website. Hey, I'm not saying he's doing very well with his business. I'm glad you know him well as a person. I'm just wondering if his family's money helped those businesses get off the ground, and whether he just "invested" in those businesses.

Or whether the guy had an idea & poured himself into said ideas and came up with the business on his own using his own talent & skills.

I don't view him on the same level as the others. My buddy has a successful business he built with his own two hands out of nothing. I repeat, NOTHING. Nothing was there except an education he received from a guy running the same kind of business who failed at it.

He went out on a limb with his own scratch & built it into a successful one-man operation. He had ZERO safety-net & was on his own. Still is.

If Lipsey lost his businesses tomorrow, I doubt he'd be hurting thanks to his trustafarian status. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all.

I just don't view him as an entrepreneur. I view him as someone whose invested family money into businesses. He's a bit of a venture capitalist, in other words.
