I know official capacity is 70k, but there is no way in hell it holds more than 62k or so and that may be generous. So my main question is WHY would the AD or whoever decide this was a good idea? It only makes your attendance look bad when looking at attendance figures. Your seemingly lackluster attendance was brought up several times here during expansion conversations. I know from watching a couple games that attendance appears to be pretty good, which is what makes it baffling.

Here is the conversation that prompted this thread.

Pictures don't do it justice.

When you're in the stands on a sold out night, you'll see just how loud and crowded it gets.

The hill actually holds a LOT of people, you just have to cram them in. It seasts more than 70,000 for sure, but it may not be as comfortable. And with the move to the SEC sparking more interest in the program, I think the 80,000 seat idea will turn out to be the right choice 10 years down the road.

And people who say our attendance and fanbase is pathetic for having such a good team, remember that only 8 years ago we were just beginning to see the light from the bottom of the basement.

Here's a list of Mizzou's record home crowds I got from the Book "Tales from the Missouri Tigers"

1. 75,298 Penn State Oct 4, 1980
2. 75,136 Texas Sept 29, 1979
3. 74,575 Nebraska Nov 3, 1979
4. 73,655 Alabama Sept 16, 1978
5. 72,348 Nebraska Oct 15, 1983
6. 72,333 Colorado Oct 18, 1980
7. 72,001 Nebraska Oct 24, 1981
8. 71,291 Oklahoma Nov 17, 1979
9. 71,096 Colorado Oct 28, 1979
10. 70,915 Notre Dame Sept 26, 1984

Copyright of the book is 2003 so I'm sure OU's game from 2010 and some other games are probably ranked in there.
