Not sure he is ever really on target

McCarron played better than Lee in my opinion. He had just one int and threw for far more yards. Didn't seem as rattled as Lee either. I don't think Jefferson played much (ifany) better either. He just didn't make any bad mistakes. Jefferson doesn't bring a calming inspiring, confident attitude to the game at least what I can tell from his body language.

what did he do other than dump the ball to Richardson on two busted plays?

I thought McCarron looked very comfortable running the Alabama offense against the best defense in the nation (unlike our deer-in-the headlights 5th year senior). Sure he missed a few open receivers- the "major cog" in the Alabama offense was our defense, not McCarron. Did Saban have to yank McCarron and put in Simms for any reason?

Because the defense was able to stop runs outside of the tackles.

Look, I'm not defending Lee at all. I'm saying McCarron didn't play as well as you guys are saying. He had some CRUCIAL mistakes in the game.

If it weren't for two busted plays on defense where he dumped it off to Richardson, he throws for maybe 120.

The kid didn't do anything special and he fricked up more than you realize.

Thankfully, LSU had a QB that could run outside and it was an issue for Bama to stop.

Jefferson was 6/10, fwiw. Higher completion percentage than McCarron.

This is a bit of a stretch. McCarron is not bad for a first year starter. I think he'll be pretty good over the next two seasons. He could easily be as good as GMac was.
