7-6 = The Hat's record against Top 5 teams
This kind of caught me by surprise. I thought it was better than that

A winning record against top 5 teams is no small feat.

2008 to 2009, really screwed up his record. He was 0-3 against Top 5 teams those 2 seasons.
Over the remaining 5 years, he is 7-3
Those 2 seasons really makes his record against all ranked opponents bad. He was just 3-6 against all ranked teams those 2 seasons
His record would look like this, minus the 08 & 09 seasons:
28-7 = Record against Top 25 teams, (compared to 31-13)
19-6 = record against Top 15 teams, (compared to 21-12)
11-4 = record against Top 10 teams, (compared to 12-8)
7-3 = record against Top 5 teams, (compared to 7-6)
10-1 = record at home against Top 20 teams, (compared to 10-4)

Bump.
These records dont take into account the BCSCG but look what this man has done for the program. Who is LSU going to go get thats going to do much better?? I, for one, am DAMN proud to have such a DAMN good football coach for this DAMN strong football team!!! One game isn't going to change that.

I am not seeing I fully agree with the 'off with his head' approach... but you truly arent stupid enough to believe the outrage is about 'one game'. That one game culminated what has been festering in the backdrop since 2005 when he tried to call that great time out against Tenn. His time management was borderline fatal in 2007 in about 4 games yet we managed to win inspite. Ole Miss, Tennessee, gameplan for PSU... the national championship game was not a one off... it is a reminder of the bad you get with the good (and yes there is a lot of good too).

One game shouldn't get you fired, you are right. Although Miles' losses are few and far between, they are almost directly related to a major blunder on his part.
The BCSNC, the biggest stage you can have, was an absolute disaster for Miles. What is most frustrating is that he has coached this team so well in the past in these types of games, and he completely quit on the team. He let his pride cloud his judgement and the team was the one who had to suffer.

I understand that. Would you prefer bad clock management and a win or a loss to UAB, Utah in a BCS game, ULM @ home, Stanford when you are favored by 41 @ home, Iowa State with a birth to the National Championship on the line, Nevada with a BCS game at stake.

I know SPEEDY wasn't happy with CLM after the game but this fantastic thread needs to be updated!
