Yep, it's the big game, the 'Game of the Century', the one everyone has been talking about all year, and it's not Oklahoma, or Texas, or USC, or Ohio State, or Florida State, it's our LSU Tigers that are in it.

This has been the greatest decade in LSU history, after going through the '90's, we deserve it.

Well said - it's a thrill being a Tiger fan. Love the #1 ranking, but win or lose I'll always support the team.

If, and it's a big if, we lose, the season is far from over and there's still a chance for great thing with one loss. CFB is unpredictable and strange things can happen (like Bama losing down the road).

this type of game is why I support CLM. All the people who don't support him need to realize this.

Ok...I wrote that line for dramatic effect. But there is one guy that I knew and he was one of the most dedicated and loyal LSU fans I have ever met. We sat in his seats (first row 40 yd line old upper deck west) for the Notre Dame game when Faust was their coach. Dalton Hilliard was our running back. We lost the game but he never once bad mouthed LSU players or coaches. For him, enjoying each and every moment of the experience of LSU Tiger Football at Tiger Stadium was what it was about. He attended all away games as well. Invited me to Starkville and to this day I regret not going with him. He passed soon after and his wife offered me to keep his tickets but under his name. Like a idiot, I refused. One of my biggest regrets in life. No, not every play, but I will be thinking of him a lot. (Pray for us Connie...I know you're watching!)

going through the eras of Cholly Mac, Stoval, Arnsparger, Archer, Hallman, Dinardo, Saban, and now Miles, it just makes me appreciate having the program at this level

I am 63, and my first real recollection of LSU football at the age of nine was watching a very grainy black and white film of someone named Billy Cannon running for a touchdown against some team called Ole Miss. I remember hearing about him getting a big award that year. Now, after having sat through the 70', 80's, 90's, the "oughts', and now in 2011, I CANNOT BELEIVE WE ARE IN THIS SITUATION. I never thought I would see it. This is easily the best LSU team I have ever seen, or dreamed of. After reading the long ESPN article about Coach Miles, it only affirmed what I thought.

As an aside, I believe we are here because of the way Miles handled Jarrett Lee after his less than auspicious start as a redshirt freshman. Instead of trashing him on the sidelines as Saban did with his qb, Miles talks to him and tries to calm him down to re-focus. I don't know the intricacies of football play calling or every strategy, but I do understand something about how to treat people to get the best out of them. I do think many things came together this year to have us poised for greatness as a team, but I think they start with Miles and Lee years ago and building solid and conducive relationships with Lee and the entire team. If I had a son who was good enough to play, I would want him at LSU with Les Miles. I would never have wanted him to be with Archer or Hallman. Charlie Mac must be dancing in heaven.

We said jcb236...

and my childhood memories are huddled around a static filled radio on Saturday nights with my brothers and sisters listening to John Ferguson. My first LSU game was seen at of all places Tulane Stadium. Tigers vs. Syracuse. Walking out of that north portal end zone on that crisp January morning and seeing all the purple and gold on the west side and the bright orange on the east side changed my life forever. Other than maybe my wedding day, births my daughter and granddaughter, and my daughter graduating from LSU, the most memorable day of my life...

Here here my man!! Yes it is. The thing I like about this LSU team is that we came out of the gates swinging by scheduling the game against Oregon, that showed a lot balls!! I got a good feeling about this game!!! May the better team win!!!

My best friend at LSU, actually he was more like the brother that I never had, died a few years ago. His funeral was on my birthday. What I would give to have him back to see this game.

I thought about this very thing last night as I was watching a once proud Colorado team get taken to the woodshed. I could not believe how bad that team really was. then I stopped and realized I'm just really spoiled.

Amen!

I went to LSU from '92-'96 (statistically the worst 4-yr record of LSU football...I think), and I met my wife up in Boston in '98. When the '99 football season rolled around and she saw how bad the Saints and LSU Tigers were, she suggested that I pick new teams. I was even in the stadium when DiNardo decided to go for 2 vs UGa...

This all seems like I died and went to Heaven compared to all of that. It's been an immense reward for sticking with the team through it all...and I'm enjoying the ride.

Geaux Tigers!
