Some thoughts and questions on store-bought chips and salsa

So, to preface, this is by far my favorite snack at work and at home. I attempt to try new brands every few weeks. Right now I'm obsessed with these:
XOCHiTL Corn Chips, salted (Whole Foods - $4.46)
- these are the closest you will find to fresh restaurant chips at the grocery store. very thin and light with the right amount of salt, and taste nothing like the crap fest that is a bag of Tostitos.
Voodoo Bayou Medium Salsa (Walmart - $2.86)
- randomly picked this up for the first time last week and it's great. not too chunky (actually rather thin in consistency) which I love and it's got a great flavor. closest thing I've found to Albert's Hot Sauce (
) down here in south La.
Anybody ever try either one of these? Also, are there any brands of either chips or salsa you've run across recently you care to share? Always looking for something new to try.

Green Mountain Salsa will change the way you think about packaged salsa.
Much pricier but totally worth it. I always keep it stocked up in my fridge and put it on everything. The hot has a good bite to it so if you are sensitive to that, go with the mild.

I know you said you hate tostitos but I'm currently obsessed with the multigrain chips.
I like to try a ton of different salsas but right now my favorites are Newman's Own and Texas Texas. We also keep zapp's in the house because my husband loves it but I get tired of it sometimes. It has a smoky flavor.

I can't buy it too often, because I finish the jar in 1 day normally.

That's a good one too!

multigrain chips?
i've had both of those salsas. Newman's own is alright. i'm not a huge fan of all these different flavored salsas brands come out with. i feel like they put more effort into having 15 different flavors than just making one solid fricking dip.
i mean.. mango chutney habanero salsa w/ lime? gtfo.

Mrs. Renfro's Roasted Salsa is my favorite right now

I buy Albert's salsa quite often. Good stuff. Can't stand Dorito's except the Taco flavored. I like the seasoning on those, but not the chip.

Yeah, no, I just get the regular.
The multigrains are great and don't break like your pansy chips.

Every jarred salsa I've tried has been too salty and ketchuppy. I think the refridgerated salsas in the produce section and in platic tubs are much better quality for about the same price as jarred.

perhaps I should have mentioned all of the popular store brands i've had
i'm really looking for some super local stuff that i could pick up when out of town or maybe order online. take Albert's for instance. made in Kilgore, TX and only available in the Texarkana (as far as I know).

that has been my experience as well more often than not. but i just can't get behind a really thick/chunky salsa unless it's fresh made in front of me or by me.

R2R, I see Albert's in Louisiana stores all the time. It's usually with the refrigerated dips.

i can get into those every now and then LE. can't really throw down on an entire bag though because they're so salty.
