X-Factor for the LSU Offense against Alabama

I believe LSU and Alabama to be the two best teams in college football. The Crimson Tide are very well coached and will provide a scheme to neutralize RR and the running game. I believe they will force Lee/Jefferson to find an additional outlet to beat them. What do you think it will be?
From what I have seen, the two areas of concern for a Saban defense has traditionally been the screen pass. Do you think we see this utilized? We have not had many pass receptions to the RBs this season. Also, the TE position will be critical in this game. With a predictable double team or bracket on RR, that yields a Cover One style offense and often times man-to-man on D. Peterson and C. Clement. I believe one of those two will bust open a huge play sometime in this game on a seam route when Lee faces the blitz.

Unless you're on LSU's or Bama's staffs, I don't care.

I belive the tight end pass up the middle would be successful.

Doesn't seem like we've used Peterson too much in the last few games. Hopefully, we can use him to our advantage against Bama.
Middle of the field could be wide open for our tight ends.

Toss to ware to RR on the fly.
I just hope he doesn't throw off his back foot.

I honestly don't think our running game will be too bad. With Hilliard being added to our depth at RB I think we'll have fresh legs and be just fine. Other than that it's gonna be ST. Punt placing has treated us great.

Bama is very good at defending the screen and the rb out of the back field. Now the tight end is a different story. A good athletic tight end like Hernandez is tough for us to defend. Also a mobile Qb can light us up. I fully expect our D to try to limit JJ from running and it will open up JJ for the pass. Preparing for JL while is difficult is not as hard as JJ.

ST is a huge part of the game and people too often forget that. If LSU makes their FGs, which they will have a couple, I believe they win. Remember, LSU was DOMINATED by the Auburn rushing attack last season for almost 450 yards...you would see that and think we lost by 28...it was tied with 5:00 to go. If you force Alabama to go the long field, every time, your chances go up expotentially.

Kenny Hillard.....the suspension of Ware showed all how good of a back he is!

The X factor is going to be special teams. We have one of the best special teams units in the country. Bama is lacking in that department.

well LSU running backs have a total of 13 receptions all season and only a couple have come by way of screens. that just isn't a big part of the offense. lsu does run some bubble screens to shep and beckham but doesn't throw much to running backs

Personally I think they'll try to go man-to-man against our receivers ... Bama believes their secondary is as good as any in the nation. However, if they do give Safety help to RR's side, I would expect OBJ to be the difference maker in this game.

Could this be a breakout game for Jarvis Landry as a receiver? I've been reading all year that he has great hands and he showed Sat. that he is tough as nails. Maybe slant patterns over the middle?

I was pondering the same thing

Great ideas in this thread. I think we must utilize Peterson in the passing game as well as getting the ball outside to OBJ and Shep. I think its JL's best pass. he seems to always lead the receiver on those quick WR screens to allow maximum gains.

Ware will throw the ball in this game. Book it.

ST will be key. Someone has to step up in the passing game, though.
