I know there is one in Lafayette, but my buddy went to the soft opening the other night and he said they're different. Something about more of a counter service at the Laffy one and this one is seating with beer/wine and stuff. Assuming the product is still the same though. Anyone know anything more than that. I know most folks that have talked about the one in Lafayette are critical.

I went the other night for the soft opening and yeah it's more of a typical restaurant style, the one in laffy is more like a subway for burgers they told me. Excellent burger though, good fries, awesome sweet potato tater tots and the Smith sauce is awesome, kind of like a Canes sauce. Great little bar too and they have there own beer which is called Burgersmith Ale and it was also really good. Def will be going back. Really enjoyed it!

I went over there on Friday where they were doing their orientation and all that. Had the sweet potato tots which were very good. The burger itself (or sliders, as I got) was nothing too special..Next time I'll ask for more smith sauce.
The beer selection is great, they have tons of beer from all the Louisiana breweries. I would go back to this place to try it again.

it is always this way when places first open .. particularly at the soft opening .. they are always gonna put their best foot forward with huge portions, fresh ingredients, outstanding service, etc. .. i give these places at least a month before i try them .. that way you get a better idea of what the place will settle into quality-wise ... i saw it with coyote blues in that part of town ..

I need to check this place out, could walk there if I really wanted to.

yeah .. that's a good point .. i did that with five guys and also coyote blues .. five guys has been meh from day one .. CB slid a little bit and once all the ringers went back to laffy and the regulars took over, the service slid a bit too ... and the MFers took the osso bucco off of the menu ..

I've always been let down by Burgersmith here in Lafayette. The meat is always overcooked and just smaller than I would expect for the price. I love the beer selection, but the food always leaves me disappointed.

Bumping this thread because I went today for lunch. Wanted to give a review.
It's a nice place on the inside, I was unaware that this was going to be a sit down place and not an order from a bar kind of place. Kind of bland decor, which really isn't something to be concerned about.
I got their Grass Fed Burger. Figured why not for the first time order the "best" burger, presumption based on price alone. My dad got the filet burger (same idea I guess). Food took a little while but that was expected. The place just opened and they were packed. We were not in a rush, so never acted like we were unhappy with our food taking a while. Assistant Manager came over and apologized for the wait, which was nice since we never once complained. And gave us coupons for free beer and ice cream for next time. Nice play on his part.
Food came out and i was underwhelmed. Both burgers were really thin and well done. Luckily I got bacon because that was the only thing making the burger better than just average. It was just an average burger to me, which I was disappointed about. Fries were above average though, and the seasoning they use was excellent. For a 8.25 burger and 1.75 fries, I felt kind of meh about it all.
Since I had to go back to work, I had tried to ignore the bar, but when I was walking out I went over to see the bar. Our beer coupon was for their Burgersmith Ale, so I was curious. Definitely a great beer selection. 2 Bayou Teche, Hopitoulous, 3 Abitas (Angygator included) and then their beer, which they call an ale but was described as a lager. I have a feeling that bayou teche makes it for them because the tap handles were eerily similar. The bar will bring me back, especially if I get to leave at lunch one day from work. Unsure about how often I would go for dinner.
Until Fat Cow gets their bar situation straight this is a decent place to get a burger. If Fat Cow upgrades their drink selection though, I am not sure if I will hit up BurgerSmith's that much at all.

Just go get a burger from the Bulldog and you don't even have to worry about a bar situation at Fat Cow. They have underrated burgers over there.

Not to mention Fat Cow may have the most overrated burger in town.

Bayou Teche doesn't even brew their own beer. I think Lazy Magnolia brews the Bayou Teche stuff so maybe they make the Burgesmith one too. Oh, and I think the taphandle is a homebrewing paddle that is very common. HOMEBREW WEBSITE PADDLE TAPHANDLE

I think that Covington makes the beer for Burgersmith, much like they do for Zea's and Luke's

That would make sense.

Really? Our tastes in burgers must really be different. The burger I had today was only slightly better than a run of the mill diner, IMO. Whereas I think Fat Cows burgers are great.
