the players had a team rule to follow and they broke it anyway...
you speed in a 55 right?
you look at other women when you're married right?
you've cheated on a test right?
you went to church and heard what was preached and still sinned right?
you told your parents you never disobeyed them right?
you know weed is illegal but you smoke it anyway and expect other kids not to do the same right?
you are such a badass because what you do in life is forgiven but when a 19 year old kid does the same thing he's held to a higher standard and he knows it right?
just like you knew when you went to college you were given an opportunity and you played by all the rules, didn't mess up once, and made sure every goddam thing you did in school was moral and just right???
Bull shite!Bull shite! Bull shite!
stop hiding behind your self given righteousness and your self image of purity. you have no right to judge any of these people just as no one has a right to judge your mistakes.
you should feel lucky that your life mistakes aren't scrutinized by an entire culture. these players put more on the line in one year than you have in a lifetime. no one knows you and your bad judgements. be glad you aren't under the microscope. just because some are doesn't give you any reason to pass judgement.

Your 100 percent correct. Weed is no more of a drug than caffeine is. These are the same assholes that drink and beat their wife. News Flash people alcohol is the most dangerous and deadly DRUG so if you drink your a f-ing hypocrite. Its to bad older people who grew up in different generation's believed the lies and can't do research on their own.

I agree with what you're trying to say.
Although, most of the things you listed aren't illegal.
And
Hmmm. Bit of an overstretch, ya think?

not as far as public scrutiny is concerned.

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
While I'm not doubting your word on this, I would like a reference so I don't have to go to the concordance and look for "marijuana".

OK, I'm convinced. Now, go find some carbera seed or a hemlock plant and eat that too. Remember, God wants you to. Oh, and receive it joyfully. Come back and tell me how that's working for you.

My take is based on something a pretty smart guy said a long time ago:
To the fans: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
To the players: Go and sin no more.

I think we can all agree that most of the time these players are held to a higher standard. They know that coming in. They know thAt when they put the uniform on they are representing the university, our culture, and basically serve as ambassadors for the state.
They should certainly know it after they were caught the first time.
I'm not perfect; far from it. But I don't willingly make the same decision (not mistake) twice, when I know it is going to be detrimental to my family. That's just selfish.
Like it or not, these kids, and I like how they are always reduced to being kids by apologists when they do something wrong, are our front porch to the rest of the nation. Now, they are also on the front page of every news and entertainment website it seems.
I'm not going to debate what should be legal and what shouldn't be. That's irrelevant for thus discussion. They know the rule, and they broke it...twice, alledgedly.
Yes, for the people beating their wives and partaking of other illegal activities without the scrutiny of a fanbase, trying to completely live vicariously through what a team does and tearing these players down is hypocritical. But that doesn't mean these players should just be give a pass because older folks just don't understand. I'm in my mid-thirties and I don't understand how you let the team down like this. Sorry if that makes me old. I also have the responsibility to teach my child right from wrong.
So, in trying to explain to a child under the age of ten why three of our team's best and beloved players are on the field this week, do I just say it's older people's fault because they expect "kids" to follow the rules, or do I tell him even the people we sometimes look up to in life don't always do what they are supposed to?
As I said, I am far from perfect, but the pass some of you give to these "kids" floors me sometimes.

It shouldn't. You gotta realize that probably 75% of TD is college aged "I know it all" 20 somethings that have absolutely zero practical experience at life and definitely no experience raising a child of their own. Let them raise a boy who gets caught smoking weed and kicked out of high school and their tunes are going to change real quick.
