Probably gone if he gets the offer, which he should if TU has any sense.

I think it's the opposite. How much does a lower tier Conf USA HC make per year? LSU should match. Frank has way too much value on the trail..

Recruiting Tulane material type players might get fustrating.

I think Bob Toledo was making around 600k. What does Wilson make now? 300k? I seriously doubt LSU would double his salary to keep him here.

I understand him wanting to look at it from a financial position, but he will be screwing up his head coaching chances for a while if he goes there.
I guess on the other hand, he can go collect that fat check for three or four years then go back to a big program if he wants to. The big schools will always have a spot for him because of his recruiting skills.

Frank Wilson's recruting talent would be totally wasted at Toolame, since they admit athletes using the same standards as admitting most any other student.
They ignore the NCAA minimums for what they call the "Tulane Model," which is just an excuse for losing.
Wilson might know the NOLA area like an alleycat knows a trash can, but that will do him no good, since most of the NOLA area talent can't qualify to get into Tulane and the school will not make allowances.
As much of a train wreck as Tulane football is, leaving LSU even as a lower-tier assistant for the HC job at Tulane would be a lateral move at best--and it probably would be a step down.
Also, uptown-NOLA-old-money racism is a bit more subtle and stealthy than Livingston-Parish-white-trash-trailer-park racism, but it is there nonetheless and already manifesting itself.
As someone said on another thread, the Galatoires-uptown-aristocrats at Tulane would never stand for a black HC.

quote:It goes against everything Tulane. They snubbed their nose at Rich Rod because he wasn't a "Tulane man" in that he didn't fit their persona of what Tulane's head coach should be. Not preppy enough?
Probably gone if he gets the offer, which he should if TU has any sense.
I can't see them changing their philosophy and going after an LSU (God forbid!) man as their head coach.
