Read this book first

Then go over to Home Brew Talk
But that book is what got me into brewing. I randomly picked it up at borders one day, and now it is my brewing bible.

Knucklebuster

Or you can buy a kit from morebeer.com northernbrewer.com or Austinhomebrew and buy an ingredients kit at the same time and figure it out. Ask us, google stuff and I think most of that book is online for free. It's super simple. Just intimidating from the outside.

Maybe I'm just old, but having a hard copy of the book, to me, is so much more valuable than just the online version. I can't count how many times I've picked up my copy during brew day to check or verify something real quick. Or how many pages I have notes to myself written to elaborate on what is in the book.

Same here. I have beer stains on my book, because i typically freak out on brew day, to make sure i'm not forgetting a step. And that book is used to reconfirm my process

If you are in Baton Rouge our homebrew/beer club meets tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 630 at the Cove, if you want to talk to people face to face about how they got into brewing/how they do it/why etc.

Glad to hear you're back in the game...I ordered a Stone IPA clone. I've been too busy drinking dark or spiced or Belgian beers to really have a good IPA so I'll make some hopefully.

If you don't mind, I'll take a bottle of this please:
New Belgium Lips of Faith Kick

In case you don't see it I'll take one of these. One bottle only (total, not of each). Thanks
New Belgium Lips of Faith Clutch
Deschutes Stoic
DFH Olde School Barleywine
DFH Pangea

I wouldn't be suprised if you didn't see anything but the New Belgium stuff. Lips of Faith tend to not sell out very quick like DFH does (thanks Discovery Channel). The Stoic is the latest release from Deschutes reserve series (like Black Butte XXIII). Pangea and Olde School Barleywine were released in Sept & Oct (respectively) so there may be a chance you see them, but I'd be really suprised if you see any new DFH big bottels (FYI: Burton Baton, My Antonia, and namaste were realesed Sept/Oct as well)

You never know with the DFH big bottles... I found some Theobroma last time I was there unexpectedly.

The Lips Of Faith stuff will be the most likely, and since they had some Black Butte XXIII there will be a possibility of the Stoic.

That's cool. I think I am brewing this weekend since I failed to do so this past weekend. I was also thinking about testing out my cask ale sometime.

I wouldn't mind something from one of the Texas Breweries - maybe a big bottle of Rahr or the like. Might as well owe you more money.
