If our offense could have matched those numbers last year we would be going after a repeat championship.

yup. Which is why I think last years d might have been at least as good, but probably better

I guess I should have including rushing ranking:


Rushing offense #38, 183.5 ypg


Not to mention 4 of the 6 opponents were ranked teams

Many of the listed stats come from www.cfbstats.com. I did not see a stat for average field position there but the stat can be calculated. I used the unofficial drive charts on www.si.com and came up with the following:

LSU Average Field Position: LSU's 37.66 Yard Line
Opp Average Field Position: OPP's 25.71 Yard Line

So, LSU has averaged 12 yards better field position.

My numbers may be off but they should be close.
