You have no idea who Brandon McCarthy is.
He makes more than you. Let’s just start there.
McCarthy was paid $1 million to pitch 25 games for the Oakland Athletics last season, and has made a total of $1.8 million through his six seasons in Major League baseball which spans seven years.
As always, this qualifies him to have a blue check next to his twitter handle and, by connection, make idiotic comments.
In a tweet, McCarthy asked baseball pundit Keith Law if one is still able to brag about owning an iPad. “That’s like bragging about having an iPhone at this point,” tweeted McCarthy. Douchebag comment count: 1.
Scarf: Luxury or Necessity?
McCarthy then proceeded to write his greatest hits of douchebaggery and idiotcricy:
“It’s a highly functional personal computing tablet. Not a ‘Saturday only’ car.”
“For a lot of people I’d say it is a necessity.”
“Personal income doesn’t change the general definition of ‘luxury item’. By that logic, electricity and water are luxuries.”
“I guarantee there are companies that would go under by not having them because lack of efficiency.”
“Computers are a pretty good example, you don’t HAVE to use them, but if you don’t, you’re done.”
“I would argue that there are businesses that would die without them. So define ‘need’”
To summarize:
The iPad is obviously the greatest thing since sliced bread, (no, scratch that, it made the invention of sliced bread possible. Oh, and the invention of the wheel, too), any company before 2009 never existed, and the Amish are all dead.
McCarthy is a free agent this offseason. I wonder if he objects to being paid in iPads.
Today, McCarthy got his payback for being a millionaire tweeting about the definition of a luxury:
“I have six hours of traffic school today- does anyone have any MDMA I can ‘borrow’?”
Remember, God reads your tweets, assholes.

Honestly, he isn't funny enough to write for the Onion. He seemed to be trying too hard.

I doubt he gives a shite.
Posted on 10/4/11 at 1:42 pm to hendersonshands
that was my problem with it. If it was genuinely funny, I wouldn't have said a thing. But when you're wrong and unfunny, that's a bad combo.
