I also am a big Mike Anderson's fan but I can assure you it will be packed on Friday night. Pastime is my absolute pre-game favorite -- they'll be opening at 8 on Saturday. In fact, if you don't have a place to park, you can go to Pastime and buy a ticket -- they have a shuttle that goes from Pastime to the stadium. Adore the Chimes (in fact my daughter works there). It also will be packed but is so worth it -- so LSU. Louie's for breakfast is also my favorite but also will be packed Sunday morning. Mansur's on the Boulevard is another one of my absolute favorites -- the best grilled oysters in the universe.
Bottom line is to relax, let those around you know it's your first time as they will point you where you need to go, and have a blast.

I'm flying out of Baltimore (South West) on Friday and coming back on Monday as well. Flying into New Orleans though.

DO NOT MISS: band coming down the hill about an hour before the game. get there early to get a decent spot. it will be a huge crowd for this game.
pregame is 15 mins before kickoff. however, it will take a long time to get to your seats. best pregame in college fb and yes that includes the dotting of the i.
food: before the game, get the boudin balls from "jabalaya by shake". they're in between the stadium and the pmac
you can't go wrong with mike anderson's or parrain's. both are excellent. parrain's is a really long wait every time i've been.
louisiana laigniappe is also excellent but pricey.
chimes is typical college bar type atmosphere. good food.
louie's cafe is really good diner food. love the hash browns.
incidentally, lalou is closed. another broken egg is going to open where the old harold's closed next to jason's deli

Breakfast at Louie's or La Lou on Sunday.
La Lou is overpriced, and they have no idea what "fresh squeezed" OJ means.

Wear a Maryland shirt and pick up a LSU cap when you get here. Walk around the tailgating sites.
You will be overwhelmed with Southern hospitality.
You will be offered more food and drink than you can consume in a month.

No he won't. Student section is almost exactly diagonal from him. He will get a great of the students and hear the band loud and clear. Though he will have Gators all around him.

A few suggestions to sprinkle into your conversation:
1. Bert Jones is still worshipped in Baltimore.
2. I've been to Clemson several times, but now I can say I've been to the real Death Valley.
3. Now I understand why the really good places in Maryland fly in their crabs from Louisiana.
4. LSU's had a few players from Maryland over the years and it's been correlated with success. Mickey Mangham of Kensington, MD caught the only touchdown pass (from Billy Cannon!) in your win over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl for your 1958 National Champ team. David Jones from Silver Spring, MD was the tight end on your 2003 Championship team, and Patrick Fisher from DeMatha outside DC was your punter on the 2007 BCS Champs. Too bad that Barrington Edwards got into trouble and had to transfer.
5. Did you use Tony's to season this? When I get home, I'm throwing out my Old Bay.
6. How in the world is Maryland 3-0 all time against LSU? I am just glad we don't have to play you all this year.
7. How did you all put up with Crowton for so long? We're already getting tired of the bubble screens and redzone breakdowns.
Hope you have a great time!
