They used to offer a DVD at the end of each hunting season of video that the guides compiled of bucks that made it through titled "The one that got Away".

Friend of mine hunts there and doesn't really care for it. The deer are huge, but the restrictions make it very difficult to find one to shoot. When he goes he says he is going "deer watching" because you have to watch all these very nice bucks walk.

I love doing that, but not sure I'd pay that price to do it.

It was created to shorten the route to Natchez...blown by the Corps in the 30s. Thats what caused Under the Hill to go under water.

Ive hunted several parts....Briefield, Palmira, and the orginal Paul Plantation where the old lodge use to be. A lot of memories as a kid taking the pontoon barge across the old river.

Mung gets a bid to Palmyra every year. Sometimes I get to tag along. Had my first ever 2 deer day last year on the day of the Alabama game.

Ok, I am originally from Vidalia. The Campbell family is from Natchez...I know Richard is still deeply involved with Palmyra

Not disputing that. Just saying that hunting trophy deer at a place like that gets boring fast when you are paying beaucoup money to watch deer that you would normally shoot walk by. If that is your thing and you can afford it by all means go for it. Just not all it's cracked up to be.

Maybe it's just me, but the people generally paying that money have little interest in shooting those deer that are walking by in the first place.

I've never done a pay hunt. If I do, it will be in the mid-west, and I'm not even drawing my bow unless the deer makes my eyes pop out of my head.

Coolest part is having a herd of 30+ deer coming by you several times a day.
