They didn't stomp on the eye in 09. They stomped on the eye in 07 and the players thought they were doing it again in 09.
It was still an awesome moment.

Still gives me goose bumps

I may get trashed for this, but oh well.
I've never seen it as the other team intentionally and maliciously "stomping on our Eye" by God!
What I think happens is that at the end of pre-game warmups, teams rally around the coach or a team captain. Often times, that person happens to be standing on the 50 yardline in an observational role. The team is rallying around a person, not the thing painted on the field.
NOW, the team should know better than to congregate in the middle of another team's field, regardless of what's painted there. I really don't think opposing teams give a shite one way or another about the Eye.

One of the few games I have attended in the last few years. The pregame atmosphere was about as electric as i have ever witnessed...of course the game did not go our way, but man was the crowd juiced before that game.

I would say this would be the case, but Florida had the tendency to "congregate" at midfield on the midfield logo often on away games, and I don't remember them being in the middle of the field at the Swamp.

I wanted a flag on that ... what year was it that AU got a flag before kickoff for the same thing??? That Florida 09 game ... the crowd sure did boo then and that included me ... perhaps the only time I've booed in TS!

blood, what year was that?
And for the record, they might want to consider putting the refs around The Eye or something ... I'd hate for "something" to happen before we've even had kickoff!

This....
I hope the crowd is hyped for this even though it is a 230p game. Best home game for us...and it looks like the only night game is going to be W Kentucky.

And for the record I posted the one of 2007 when they did it ... you can only hope that they learned their lesson and won't do it again ... for the 3rd time.
Hoping Muschamp is classier than Meyer.

Was 2001....They got flagged and we did an onside kick to start the game and recovered. That was a great game!
