Off the topic of JJ, something I noticed during the WVU game...

Not bitching about it or anything because we won the game and it's in the past and I know it's borderline but on WVU's first touchdown the WR was clearly high stepping in the endzone. Now I thought the new rule would negate the TD and push you back 15 yards?? Haven't seen this rule enforced yet this year that I know about, so will it be one of those rule's that's barely enforced??

It is up the the refs, and as long as you celebrate with team mates you're fine also.

They are just waiting for the Alabama game to start strict enforcement.

It doesn't negate the TD, it adds 15 on to the PAT. It's only ever been really enforced in that infamous Washington game where Locker threw the ball up after scoring and they missed the PAT to lose, after that no ref has the balls to flag it unless it's straight up Reggie Bush flip into the endzone status.
That would be the worst rule ever if it negated a TD, that would be like a hold after an interception negating the Int.

If the celebration draws a penalty after the TD, the points stand but a 15 yard penalty is tacked on to the PAT.
If the player begins to celebrate excessively and draws a penalty before crossing the goal line and scores, the TD will be taken away and a 15 yard penalty will be assessed from the spot.
At least that is what I remember the penalties being before the start of the season.

Guess you're right, damn that is a ridiculous penalty. Aside from putting on a broadway performance at the 3 yard line I doubt we'll ever see it used. What a stupid penalty.

there is a way around that.
if they play the game with class instead of showboating, then there is nothing to worry about.

I totally agree with this. Unless of course it's the honey badger who intercepts a ball and mugs the camera when he high steps and runs to the enzone. That is my only exception.

Sorry, this is where I get off. These kids bust their butts 75% of the year, lift weights, practice in the heat and watch film. They don't get a dime of the bazillions the universities or NCAA make off their backs. All they get is 3 hours a week each fall, and now they can't celebrate either?
Don't get me wrong; I am not the type of person that would highstep or taunt, and if it's getting to the point of a delay of game, it's a little ridiculous. Still, let the kids that are being milked like cash cows have a little fun, will ya?
