There are accusations that LSU defensive players are taking dives to slow the pace of the offense. Is this far fetched considering what the New York Giants were doing in week 2?

Accusations? Please, if that were the case then the WVU coach would've been yelling obscenities and gesturing wildly on the sideline during the game.

Oh, wait...

if we were, we did it well...a lot better than the Giants.

Did you watch the Oregon game? This is the team that was supposed to run a hurry up fast paced offense. Did we fake injuries in that game?

Are you questioning Les Miles integrity?

Hard to imagine Miles condoning this. He's known for asking his players to do the "impossible" because he believes in them and simply expects them to do stuff other teams and players can't.

Deception is part of any sport.

Probably yes... until the rule changes..it's in the rule book and part of the game.

There is not doubt in my mind that LSU has used it... and every other school as well.

when it gets excessive, something will be done.

If a player is dinged and can't play 100% then they probably do tell them to just go down. I would!!!

How are the refs supposed to decide whether a player is actually hurt or is faking it? Ask him if he's really hurt? Just look at him writhing in pain and decide he's not hurt?

There's no way to create a rule to cover this.

they are obviously coached up to do this (as is every player on every team). A couple years ago Ciron Black and T-Bob both took a knee to stop the clock. They each got up when they saw the other do it, and when they saw each other get up they both went back down. It was comical.

do I think they have done it so far this year?

No.

Make the player sit until change of possession.

RULE: you either use a timeout for an injury or the player cannot come back in for a quarter and the time extends to the next game if need be.

Problem solved.

Is this something Miles would instruct his players to do? Or is it just something the players do on their own, with the coaches just turning the other way? School me.

Are you only doing this with 'hurry up' offenses? How in the hell do you write THAT rule?

It is silliness. Stop whining about it. If you depend on that hurry style, then this is one thing you will face. Deal with it.

So cramping is one of the most common "injuries." We penalize a team for a cramped-up player by making him sit out a quarter? Seems rather extreme.

Its something that coaches go over in practice. Therefore most players do it on their own with previous instruction. I do think when a coach tells them to do it then its unsportsmanlike. Basically if you get tired during a long drive and have the least bit of discomfort stay down. The kid from Miss St flopped when realizing he wasnt going to make it off the field during sustitutions. That pissed me off

one thing about the whole faking injuries thing that I havent seen discussed. In any fb game you watch, you will see guys dinged up and heading to sideline, with their replacement going in. When playing against a hurry up offense, if you limp to the sideline, rather than just going down, you are hurting your team.

I would instruct my player, if you are dinged, go down, don't limp off.
